David Ramsey shared the revelation during Monday's episode of Michael Rosenbaum's "Inside Of You" podcast, explaining why he kept his diagnosis private for so long.

"I mean, listen, there's a part of my personality that's, in general, a little more, kind of, laid back, and 'Hey, as it comes it comes, and I'm enjoying it. I love it. Period, no problem.' That's how I see the world, and it's worked for me," he explained, via Just Jared. 'I think that's kind of reflected in me not really sharing the story.'

He clarified that secrecy wasn't intentional. "It's just not really my personality," David Ramsey said. "Now, in more recent years, there's an uptick in testicular cancer, there's an uptick in cancer in general, and I should talk about this more."

David Ramsey explained that he first noticed something unusual while training. "So I went to the doctor," he said after realizing that "one of the testes was significantly smaller than the other."

Doctors initially advised him to monitor the condition over time, beginning when he was 28, as they tracked changes through periodic examinations. He later referenced a medical condition called microlithiasis, explaining how it was part of the monitoring process.

"Anyone that's kind of gone through testicular cancer will understand 'microlithiasis," Ramsey explained. "That's present if there's cancer, but it can be present without cancer. So, they're watching."

Years later, the situation escalated unexpectedly. David Ramsey revealed that one testicle suddenly swelled dramatically, "out of the blue," which prompted immediate medical intervention.

He ultimately underwent surgery to remove the testicle before beginning chemotherapy treatments to combat the cancer.

Chemotherapy Experience Shifted His Perspective On Life

Although the treatments were physically demanding, David Ramsey said the most emotional part of the experience came from observing others in the cancer ward.

"What was tougher was seeing the other kids in there going through it," he said. "You're sitting right there, and you're kind of locked in, you're kind of getting the stuff pumped into you, and you've got your laptop or whatever, and you're looking to some kid who has no hair, and he's 12 years old, and his mother is right there next to him."

"And there's another kid, and then there's a man who's 70, and it's just kind of like, 'I'm all right.' You know what I mean?" David Ramsey added. "I'm all right.'

The experience ultimately reshaped his mindset toward his career and opportunities. "You go back to the acting and like, 'Oh, you know, you're guest starring, and now it's my time,'" the actor continued. "It's just not my perspective. My perspective is, 'This is f-cking awesome, bro.' That's always my perspective. All the time."
