Chelsea Handler reveals she has finally moved into her long avoided home after years of problems and delays. The Chelsea Handler Finally Occupies House Bought From RFK Jr. And Cheryl Hines first appeared on The Blast
Chelsea Handler is finally settling into a home that has followed her for years, but not in the way she expected.
What began as a routine property purchase turned into a long-running ordeal filled with delays, surprises, and frustration.
Now, after years of setbacks, the comedian has officially moved in and is ready to close that chapter.
Chelsea Handler Finally Moves Into Long-Delayed Home
After years of avoiding the property she purchased in Los Angeles, Chelsea Handler has officially taken the final step.
During a March 17 appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the comedian confirmed she had finally moved into the house she bought from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cheryl Hines.
The update marked a turning point in a situation she has openly discussed over time.
For nearly five years, the home remained unoccupied by its owner, despite being fully purchased. That changed when Handler revealed she had moved in just one day prior to her appearance, signaling the end of a long delay.
Her tone suggested relief more than excitement. The move was less about a dream home moment and more about finally resolving a lingering issue that had followed her for years.
Inside Chelsea Handler’s Complicated Property Experience

Handler’s journey with the property has been anything but straightforward. Speaking candidly on the show, she explained how the purchase itself came with unexpected details.
“RFK Jr., I didn’t know I was buying–” she said per PEOPLE, before pausing as the audience reacted.
She then clarified, “I know, that is laughable. You can laugh at me,” adding, “I didn’t know I was buying it from RFK Jr. because it was a blind trust. The house feels like I bought it from RFK Jr.”
What might have been a typical real estate transaction quickly became something more complicated.
The discovery of the previous owner only added to the narrative, but the real challenges came after the purchase was complete.
Handler described the process as drawn out and frustrating, shaped by issues that were not initially visible.
The house, she suggested, came with baggage that could not be ignored.
Problems That Kept Chelsea Handler Away For Years

The biggest obstacle was the condition of the home itself. Handler revealed that significant problems prevented her from living there for years after buying it.
“It took me four years to move in. There [were] a lot of problems with the house — I blame him — and that didn’t get caught during inspection. And a lot of drama with the house. But I did just move in for the first time yesterday. So, I’m good,” she said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Reflecting on the situation, she joked, “I mean, I have chlamydia, herpes, and what else does he have? Oh, measles. I have chlamydia, measles, and herpes. But no, it’s okay now.”
Her experience extended beyond minor repairs. On her “Dear Chelsea” podcast earlier this month, she had already described how serious the situation was, saying, “I still have not lived in this house. That’s how f-cked up this house was.”
She went on to explain that inspectors raised major concerns about the property’s condition. According to Handler, they told her, “‘This house is the most toxic environment. You cannot live here for at least two years.’”
The extent of the issues caught her off guard. “I’m not exaggerating. It was a disaster, and I didn’t know it going in because everything was, you know, under wraps,” she added, noting that others had even described the home as “cursed.”
Handler Recalls Surprising Moments After Purchase

As the story unfolded, Chelsea Handler also reflected on moments that stood out after the deal was done.
One of those came in the form of a note left by Cheryl Hines.
“They sent me a note after I moved in, Cheryl Hines sent me a note saying, ‘Thank you, we’re so excited you bought our house. Let us know if there’s anything we can do.’ And I was like, ‘Oh no! I bought RFK Jr.’s house?’ Like the one person in the world that I would flag whose house not to buy,” she told Kimmel.
Handler Reveals Illegal Addition Discovery

The situation took another turn when previously unnoticed issues surfaced.
In her podcast, Chelsea Handler recalled discovering an addition to the property that raised further concerns.
She shared, “In the last week of inspection, they came and I finally — like, everything’s been redone — and they’re like, ‘there’s a unit, like a little outdoor storage unit, that’s been there since I bought the property. And they’re like, ‘This is illegal.’”
Frustration followed as she realized how much had been missed during earlier inspections.
“So now we have to remove his illegal bullsh-t from my property, and I’m like, how did they not find this upon the first inspection?” she said, referring to RFK Jr.
