The actor’s family, however, takes comfort in the knowledge that their husband and after will be accorded with honor on the Academy’s website along with the other fallen heroes. The Blast reported that the crowdfunding page was initially set up with a $500,000 gaol and was intended to provide some financial security and help for Billie and Georgia’s future needs. Despite the flood of positivity, the GoFundMe attracted some negative light and mixed reactions from the public. Some members of the online community criticized having the public pool resources to help the families of successful actors who have properties worth millions in their name.

Inside Eric Dane’s Final Days And Death

The late actor’s cause of death was listed as respiratory failure with ALS as an underlying cause. Dane had battled with the incurable condition for about a year before his passing. His family confirmed his death online on February 19, 2026, in a statement that read, “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”

The statement also emphasized his commitment to creating awareness about the condition he struggled with, as well as the family’s request for privacy as they navigate through their grief.

In lieu of his advocacy for ALS, The Blast reported Dane’s announcement about publishing a memoir, “Books of Days: A Memoir in Moments,” detailing his life, career, diagnosis, and how he had been coping with his new normal.
