The athlete went on to reveal that Roan privately reached out following the incident and made it clear she didn’t know what occurred, and that the security guard involved was not acting on her behalf. He ultimately described the situation as a misunderstanding and stressed the need to clear the air after the fallout escalated publicly.

“I will always stand up for my family, ” he said. “But I also know how to recognize when things were not quite what they seemed at first.”

Despite the soccer star’s attempts to clear the air, it appears that social media users aren’t convinced. Many critics have pointed out that his statement stops short of an apology, arguing that the damage to Roan has already been done.

“He didn’t even apologize, SMH,” one Reddit user wrote, while another highlighted what they saw as a gender-influenced double standard: “Imagine if Chappell had done everything Jorginho had. The public would be tearing her apart. There’s a clear difference in how a woman like her and a man like Jorginho are treated.”

Meanwhile, a few skeptics speculated that legal concerns may have influenced his decision to make the statement.

Jorginho didn’t hold back when he first publicly called Roan out over what he believed was unacceptable behavior.

The controversy dates back to late March during the Lollapalooza festival in Brazil, where the footballer claimed his 11-year-old stepdaughter, Ada Law, had an unsettling encounter with a man he believed to be part of the singer’s security team.

According to him, the situation escalated when the young girl approached a table to see if it was really the “Good Luck, Babe!” hitmaker, only to be met with what he described as extremely aggressive treatment from the guard.

Roan Denied Jorginho’s Claims

Roan did not waste time pushing back against the allegations, making it clear she had no involvement in the incident.

Taking to social media, the “Pink Pony Club” singer denied instructing any member of her team to approach the soccer star’s family. In fact, she insisted she was unaware that anything had happened.

“I did not ask the security guard to go up to this mother and child,” Roan said. “They didn’t come up to me. They weren’t doing anything.”

Roan also suggested it was wrong for security to assume bad intentions without cause.

“It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when there’s no reason to believe that,” she added.

Security Guard Also Clarified The Situation

Meanwhile, the security guard at the center of the controversy has also weighed in with his own version of events. Pascal Duvier addressed the situation on Instagram Story, making it clear he was not acting on behalf of Roan.

“I take full responsibility for the interactions on March 21st. I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual, and I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan,” he wrote, per the Daily Mail.

Duvier further stressed that his actions were not connected to Roan, her personal security, or her management in any way. According to the guard, his decision was based on information provided by the hotel and what he perceived as potential security risks at the location.
