Gad Opens Up About Juggling Family During Mom’s Health Crisis
As his mother continues to recover, Gad revealed he’s temporarily stepping away from her bedside to return home to his wife, Ida Darvish, and their two daughters.
“As I pivot for a few days from caring son 2 present father, I just want to take a sec to thank some of the incredible people who have been and continue to be by Mom’s side as she slowly gets better every day,” Gad wrote.

Gad made it clear that his mother is surrounded by a strong and dedicated support system. He gave a heartfelt shoutout to those closest to him, emphasizing just how much their presence has meant during this time.
“However, the most important people who have been helping 2 guide Mom out of the woods have been my INCREDIBLE family,” he wrote. “Led by my dad Stan Schwartz, my sister-in-law (who is a force of nature), my brother [Jason] who literally saved my mom’s life by bringing her to the ER two weeks ago and my brother Jeff. I can’t wait for her niece and nephew [Sydney] and [Justin] to be by her side this weekend as well.”
He also thanked the broader circle of loved ones who have stood by them throughout the crisis.
Gad Says Mom Is ‘Still In The Woods’ But Improving
While the situation remains serious, Gad shared a hopeful update about his mother’s condition.
“Finally, to all of you- my family, & I can never fully thank u for your prayers, your outreach, and your generosity,” the “Frozen” star wrote. “Mom is still in the woods, but we can finally see the forest through the trees.”

Gad first revealed the emergency on March 11, when he abruptly canceled a planned trip to Disneyland Paris to visit the park’s new “Frozen”-themed area. Since then, he has continued to update fans, sharing that his mother has experienced “ups and downs” but remains strong.
“This woman is our world and you have lifted us up during what have been the 2 most tumultuous weeks of our lives. Thank you,” he wrote.
Even as he steps away briefly, Gad admitted the situation is still weighing heavily on him. “I am scared to leave mom‘s side even for a few days, but I know she is incredible hands with this amazing support group. Blessed to have this community and all of you,” he concluded.
