Kanye West is doubling down on his repentance from anti-semitism as sponsors have pulled from the upcoming Wireless Festival over the rapper headlining.

After being blacklisted over offensive remarks towards the Jewish community, West offered an apology earlier this year. He has since been making a music comeback, with his first performance at SoFi Stadium.

However, despite a successful return in Los Angeles last week, many brands still want nothing to do with the disgraced rapper, who insists he has truly turned a new leaf.

Following the news that several sponsors have pulled out of the music festival, which will be held from July 10 to 12, West released a statement to clear his name.

The “Donda” artist admitted he had been following the conversation surrounding his headlining and needed to address sponsors and fans “directly.”

In a statement to the BBC, West explained that his intention in coming to the UK wasn’t to foster division as he had done in the past. “My only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through my music,” he declared.

As such, the rapper offered to meet with members of the Jewish community in the United Kingdom to “listen.” Concluding his message of reconciliation, West added:

“I know words aren’t enough. I’ll have to show change through my actions. If you’re open, I’m here.”

The rapper is due to headline the show, which will see a crowd of about 150,000, for the three nights in July.

West isn’t the only one pleading for a second chance, as the managing director of Festival Republic, Melvin Benn, has also spoken up.

Defending his decision to choose the controversial rapper as Wireless Festival’s headliner, Benn shared a statement on social media, preaching “forgiveness.”

He lamented that giving people second chances has become a “lost virtue” in today’s world, before urging many to reconsider their unforgiveness towards the West.

“I would ask people to reflect on their instant comments of disgust at the likelihood of him performing (as was mine) and offer some forgiveness and hope to him as I have decided to do,” he boldly wrote on Facebook, per Page Six.

Despite the organizers feeling solid in their choice of West, several top brands that partnered with the event have since withdrawn their support.

Giants in the beverage industry, Pepsi and Diageo, revoked their sponsorship after informing organizers of their “concerns.” Shortly after, PayPal, the major payment partner for Live Nation UK Festivals, pulled the plug on its support.

As The Blast reported, the fintech company declared it will no longer appear in any more promotional material.

The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, didn’t keep quiet, describing West’s booking as a headliner as “deeply concerning” given his past divisive remarks.

Fans may recall that West fell from the graces of fans and the industry after spewing pro-Nazi, antisemitic, and racist remarks on social media.

The Yeezy founder often publicly declared his adoration for Adolf Hitler and even allowed an advertisement for a swastika t-shirt on his website.

Despite the rejection from major brands over his past mistakes, West enjoyed a warm reception and acceptance from tens of thousands of fans at SoFi Stadium.

According to The Blast, in his first major performance since the scandal, the rapper pulled out all the stops, turning the stage into a dramatic dome design that resembled the Earth. West was seen on top of the rotating structure as though conquering the world on his own terms.

Refusing to mention his past antisemitic antics, the 48-year-old focused on his music and artistry, surprising the crowd with unbelievable guest performances.

Top of the list was the rapper’s daughter, North West, whom he shares with Kim Kardashian, taking the stage with him to perform two songs, “Talking” and “Piercing on My Hand.” Fellow rapper, Don Toliver, also featured.

Kanye West’s music comeback hinges on his heartfelt apology, which he made earlier this year, that took the world by storm.

In a surprise move, the father-of-four took out a page in the Wall Street Journal, seeking forgiveness for his past bizarre comments. West declared that he loved Jewish people and wasn’t “a Nazi or an antisemite.”

Per The Blast, the rapper explained that his reckless and problematic behavior was due to his struggles with Bipolar Disorder, causing him to lose touch with reality.
