Chase Stokes gave Morgan Evans a piece of his mind online, igniting a social media blaze. Evans was married to the five-time Grammy Award nominee from 2017 after dating for about a year till they called it quits five years later.

Kelsea Ballerini came out publicly about her relationship with Chase Stokes in 2023, making headlines for their sweet moments and rough patches. The couple dated on and off for three years before going their separate ways early this year.

Stokes shook the grounds when he made a blistering comment replying to Ballerini's former husband's comment about their marriage and divorce. The Netflix star called Evans "pathetic," adding comments about his masculinity.

Evans discussed his divorce from the songwriter with Bobby Bones on "The BobbyCast" podcast earlier this week, saying that it came as a shock to him. "I definitely wasn't [expecting it], and it took me by surprise," he said, adding:

"But yeah, that whole time is such a blur. It almost feels like somebody else, just from where I'm sitting now. I just look back, and I'm like, "Oh my God."… Yeah, it was just kind of a whirlwind, life-changing moment."

Stokes' now-deleted comment under the video, which read "This is about the most pathetic excuse of masculinity I've ever seen. Get a f-cking life," ignited the war as Bones responded, calling him out as well.

The Daily Mail reported that Bones made a response video in which he said, "If you're going to come that hard, maybe don't take it down."

Furthermore, he explained that he had no ill feelings towards the actor, but in his opinion, people who project onto other people might be less masculine or insecure in their own masculinity.

Bones also defended Evans' decision to speak on his divorce. He cited that the split had served as an inspiration in his career for his new album set to come out March 20. Finally, he noted that there are three sides to their story: Ballerini's, Evans's, and the real story.

Morgan Evans Claimed He Was Painted As The Bad Guy

Evans shed more light on his feelings concerning his divorce from his wife of nearly five years. He argued that the narrative surrounding his divorce from Ballerini portrayed him unfairly. He claimed that the way the divorce was presented had little to do with him as a person.

"I think maybe I was presented, or made out to be, or became an archetype for any guy that had done any woman wrong during that period of time." He expressed that he saw things about him in the media that he sometimes found confusing.

Talking about how they affected him, he stated that it did not hurt him, especially when it was something deeply visceral. Instead of feeling hurt or down, he felt bad for the people painting the false narratives, saying that most times he saw them as people going through tough times.

Evans has evidently closed that chapter of his life as he is currently in a relationship with singer Laci Kaye Booth.

The Singer And Stokes Broke Up The Third Time

Ballerini and Stokes had a blossoming romance that spanned over a three-year time frame. The pair were mostly seen acting all lovey-dovey on dates, taking trips, and at events that they attended hand in hand.

Everything changed towards the last quarter of 2025 when they began a sequence of on and off episodes. Ballerini had previously shared that she had high hopes for their relationship to stand the test of time, as she felt it would be long-term.

She praised the "Outer Banks" star for his emotional intelligence and even raved about their compatibility in the bedroom. The Blast reported that after two subsequent breakups in 2025, the pair finally ended things at the beginning of 2026.

The news came as a shock to many as the pair had noted on their socials that they were stepping into the new year together, ready to build their relationship for real this time.  The singer had even declared her love for Stokes at the 2026 Grammy Awards in February.

While they did not officially announce the split, a source close to the former couple confirmed they had closed that chapter of their lives.

Chase Stokes Previously Jumped To Ballerini's Defense

An incident occurred on Ballerini's social media about a month after their September split, and Stokes wasted no time defending his then-lover. The singer had uploaded a transition video promoting her single "People Pleaser," off her "Mount Pleasant" EP.

She switched outfits as she lip-synced the lyrics from the song. Internet trolls went straight to the comments, flooding it with photographs of Stokes and his former girlfriend and co-star, Madelyn Cline.

The Blast shared that the Netflix star did not let it slide as he responded to the comments where he was mentioned, writing, "These comments are f-cking weird. Grow up." 

Kelsea Ballerini's Marriage Was Not A Bed Of Roses

Difficult times made their way during Ballerini's union with Evans, including a phase of infidelity. As shared by The Blast, Ballerini opened up previously, sharing that before deciding to call it quits, they had put in some work to fix the marriage. 

The singer stated that they had even gone as far as investing in couples therapy, but all their efforts became futile. Ultimately, love was replaced with resentment, disconnection, and silent treatment.

Also, there were swirling rumors that the singer allegedly cheated on her husband with pop singer Drew Taggart in 2019 but did not confess to it until two years later. This reportedly caused friction between Evans and his then-wife and was a major contributing factor to their breakup.
