After years of advocating for criminal justice reform and helping cover legal fees for inmates, Kardashian is taking her mission to the Great White Way.

According to Deadline, the SKIMS founder is set to make her Broadway producing debut as part of the team behind “The Fear of 13.” Kardashian confirmed the move in a statement, explaining why now felt like the right time to step into storytelling.

“My commitment to criminal justice reform has always been about more than just policy; it’s about people,” she shared. “I’ve learned that sometimes the most effective way to change minds is through a powerful story.”

The SKIMS Founder Was Praised For Joining The Project

Kardashian’s move into Broadway has already earned her high praise from fellow producers, who say her involvement brings added weight to the production’s message.

In a statement, Seaview, Wessex Grove, and Gavin Kalin Productions expressed excitement about collaborating with the reality star.

“The message this play carries with it is urgent, and we welcome Ms. Kardashian and her activism to this production and to our Broadway community,” they said.

Beyond Kardashian’s producing debut, the project also marks a major milestone for its leading stars. Hollywood actors Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson are both set to make their Broadway debuts in “The Fear of 13.”

Brody will portray Nick Yarris, a man wrongfully convicted of murder who spent decades on death row before being exonerated by DNA evidence. Thompson, meanwhile, takes on the role of Jackie, a prison volunteer who became instrumental in his journey to freedom.

Kim Kardashian Once Helped An Inmate Avoid Execution

Among Kardashian’s most high-profile advocacy efforts was her push to save Julius Jones, an Oklahoma man convicted of murder in 1991 who had long maintained his innocence.

With his execution date fast approaching in 2021, the TV personality took to X to call for clemency just weeks before he was scheduled to die.

“This is the cold machinery of the Death Penalty in America. In just over two weeks, an innocent man could be put to death,” she wrote. “My heart breaks for Julius and so many others who have suffered from such a tragic miscarriage of justice.”

In the end, Kardashian’s efforts helped draw widespread public attention to Jones’ case and, at the eleventh hour, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt stepped in and granted clemency.

Kim Also Advocated For The Release Of A Sexually Abused Inmate

Kardashian’s criminal justice work also played a role in securing the release of Dawn Jackson, a New Jersey woman who spent three decades behind bars.

Jackson had been imprisoned for the 1999 killing of her step-grandfather, Robert McBride, whom she said had abused her for years. In 2019, she reached out to Kardashian through a series of letters, explaining that her public defender had wrongfully advised her to plead guilty.

Moved by the case, Kardashian enlisted the help of attorneys Erin Haney and Jessica Jackson from REFORM Alliance to revisit Jackson’s situation.

“I could feel her pain through the letters,” she later told PEOPLE after Jackson’s sentence was commuted in 2024 by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

“I thought to myself, ‘Oh, my God. One time, my friend had me go pick up ecstasy at this apartment, and what if something happened?” Kardashian said.

This effectively became the starting point of her now well-documented commitment to criminal justice reform.
