“Being a papa can be hard. It’s everything; it’s cleaning faces, wiping noses, wiping butts, hour-long baths that just won’t quit, cooking ten dinners no one will eat, and answering all the questions in the world. Posting on Father’s Day has become a trend for Culkin in recent years since becoming a father.
However, in his 2024 post, he confessed to having a complicated relationship with the celebration in the past before deciding to “reinvent the wheel” for his two sons.
“Other than getting an hour or two of extra sleep, I try to make the day a celebration of my boys more than me,” Culkin said. “After all, they are the ones who made me a father (no offense to Brenda).”
“I try to do fun things for the boys on Father’s Day. It’s a special day,” he continued, before adding, “Father’s Day isn’t for me, it’s for the people that make me feel like a father.”

Culkin’s father managed his career when he broke into the acting scene as a child star in the 1990s. However, the pair did not have a good relationship, as Culkin has said on several occasions.
During an appearance on WTF with Marc Maron ” in 2018, he accused his father, Christopher “Kit” Culkin, of being physically and mentally abusive during his childhood. He also said his father was resentful of his success as a child actor.
On another occasion, Culkin claimed his father was not transparent about the income he earned as an actor. Eventually, he took steps to remove his parents from his trust fund in order to regain control of his finances.

In the years following his difficult childhood, Culkin has largely distanced himself from his father.
In March last year, he revealed that there had been no verbal communication between them for decades after he broke contact in the 1990s.
“I haven’t spoken to him in, what would it be, about 30-something years?” Macaulay told Hudson and Oliver Hudson’s “Sibling Revelry” podcast at the time, per People Magazine.
The actor continued: “He deserves it, too. He’s a man who — he has seven kids, and now he has four grandkids, and none of them want anything to do with him.”
