Mariah Carey remains one of the most influential names in music, both as a singer and a songwriter. Recently, in late 2025, she released her 16th studio album, “Here For It All,” under a new record label, Gamma. Now, months after the album failed to gain traction or add any significant hits to her discography, reports have surfaced that she’s left the label.

This comes after the “Type Dangerous” singer was snubbed by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for a third consecutive year.

Rumors began to surface on X and later Reddit on May 5 that Carey had parted ways with Gamma after signing a multi-album deal with the music distributor in 2025. Namely, it is believed that this is the case because she and the company’s founder, Larry Jackson, have seemingly unfollowed one another on Instagram.

Additionally, upon checking, Carey is also not currently following the label’s official Instagram page. However, the account does currently follow her. It should also be noted that the songstress’s photo still currently appears on the record label’s official website.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carey was confirmed to have signed with Gamma in June 2025. After that, she released the lead single from the album, “Type Dangerous.” The song debuted at number 95 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked there, making it a modest but short-lived hit.

Later, in July 2025, Carey released the song “Sugar Sweet” featuring R&B singer Kehlani. While praised by fans, the single failed to attract significant attention ahead of the September release of “Here For It All.” Per Billboard, the album debuted at number seven on the Top 200 chart, selling 47,000 album equivalents. Traditional album sales made up 39,000 of the total figure.

However, in its second week, “Here For It All” fell to number 187 on the Top 200 chart. Still, it remained in the top 10 of the album sales chart.

Following reports that Carey has now departed Gamma, her biggest fans, also called lambs, are weighing in. Notably, many think the diva may just need a better team of people around her, while others feel it may be time for her to consider taking a step back.

One caring fan wrote, “Unpopular opinion, but I’m okay with Mariah retiring to her new house in CT, being a mama to her teenagers, and releasing singles here and there. She doesn’t seem happy doing the career thing anymore, and that’s okay with me!”

The same person added, “If the Gamma thing wasn’t successful, maybe that’s ok. I think she needs to rest and just release music without the pressure of being #1 anymore.”

In reacting to reports of her latest career decision, an X user said, “Mariah needs better management and fewer ‘Yes’ people around her settling for less. They are just leeching off her and forcing her to tour when she doesn’t even want to. Her artistry needs to be reinvigorated. The music is what drives her, and they didn’t even promote it.”

Someone else said, “Can’t she just put together a real team once and for all? They ruined the ‘HFIA’ era! It’s about time she took control of her career again.”

Lastly, a different fan praised Gamma’s handling of Carey’s “Here For It All” album. They said, “They actually did a good job with her last project. When was the last time she had that kind of radio airplay? None of her peers is getting mainstream radio spins as she did.”

Theresa Wolters, Executive Director of MusiCares, released a statement upon Carey’s announcement as the honoree. She said, “Mariah Carey’s influence extends far beyond her remarkable artistry. She has used her platform consistently to provide tangible support to communities, whether through disaster relief, youth empowerment, or programs that help those facing barriers to opportunity.”

The statement continued, “Her work exemplifies the values at the heart of MusiCares: creating systems of care that lift people up and ensure music professionals and communities can thrive. Honoring her as Person of the Year celebrates both her incredible musical legacy and her dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.”

The inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026 were announced in April. However, despite being eligible since 2015 and nominated since 2024, Carey was excluded from the list. Later that month, TMZ spoke to the “Caution” singer, asking if she cared about not being inducted.

She responded, “No. Yeah, who cares? Give it to somebody else, fantastic.”
