Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to return to the UK next month, sparking renewed attention on the strained relationship within the Royal Family.

The move has left many stunned, with royal commentators and insiders hinting that it’s linked to the couple’s struggles to find their footing in the US after stepping down as working royals.

Palace insiders also note that while King Charles is open to seeing his son and grandchildren, Prince William is unwilling to meet Harry and Meghan.

Harry and Meghan are expected to travel to the UK next month with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, in what would mark their first family visit in four years. The trip is also said to coincide with the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games.

The surprising development was discussed on “The Royals Uncensored” show, hosted by experts Katie Nicholl and Jo Elvin, where TalkTV presenter Mark Dolan described the news as a “bombshell” that surprised both royal watchers and the public.

He suggested there are early signs of things “thawing” between the Sussexes and the Royal Family. However, he also argued that the timing reflects underlying tensions in how the couple is managing their public image,

According to The Express, Dolan claimed the visit “smacks of desperation,” suggesting it may be linked to challenges in their commercial and media ventures in the United States, as “Brand Sussex has failed.”

“I think what this move reveals is the total failure of the Sussex brand in the United States,” the expert noted, adding, “the money is drying up.”

He also pointed to reportedly declining earnings from speaking engagements and questioned the long-term viability of their media deals and lifestyle brand efforts.

“We know that Harry’s speaking engagements have dried up. He used to get $1million per speech, and now it’s $50k. The As Ever brand is struggling,” Dolan stated.

Dolan further speculated that returning for a high-profile royal-linked event could be an attempt to “recalibrate their royal credentials and hopefully it boosts their brand,” adding that Meghan, in particular, “sees herself as the breadwinner.”

Harry has previously expressed a desire to rebuild ties with his family and met Charles at Clarence House in London last September, a moment widely seen as a cautious step toward easing tensions.

However, Prince William is reportedly unlikely to meet the couple during their expected UK visit, with sources claiming he still feels “deeply betrayed” by past events.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that reconciliation between the brothers remains unlikely, citing the ongoing due to Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” and previous public criticisms of the Royal Family.

Royal author Omid Scobie previously shared with People Magazine that Harry has been trying to get in touch with William. However, the future king allegedly had no interest in engaging with his estranged brother.

He said in March, “The ball has been in William’s court for some time now. And he’s chosen not just to knock it back, but to kick it in the other direction.”

Reports also suggest differing reactions within the monarchy. Charles is said to be open to seeing his grandchildren again, while William is reportedly more resistant.

According to “The Royalist” Substack, the Prince of Wales is “appalled” with what he views as Charles’ support for the Sussexes’ return.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also reportedly been offered accommodation at a royal residence during their upcoming visit to the UK with their children, though it is not yet known whether they have accepted the invitation.

BBC News reports that the offer was made as part of arrangements for their stay, with the specific location on a royal estate remaining undisclosed.

Harry has previously turned down stays at Buckingham Palace during earlier visits, reportedly due to concerns about security at such a highly visible location. It is unclear if similar considerations will influence their decision this time.

Security arrangements remain a key point of uncertainty, with reports indicating that Buckingham Palace is not providing additional protection and that any decisions rest with the UK Home Office.

The Palace has also declined to comment on whether Charles III will meet with Harry, Meghan, and their children, describing such matters as private family affairs.

Reports suggest tensions surrounding the royal family dispute may be escalating further, with “The Royalist” claiming William has reacted strongly to the situation.

The outlet alleged he threatened to “boycott Sandringham forever” if Harry and Meghan are invited, and also suggested he was absent from a family gathering after Trooping the Colour in protest.

Royal commentators have frequently described William as someone who takes a firm and unyielding approach to personal conflicts.

Earlier this year, journalist Roya Nikkhah told Times Radio that the future king is known for holding onto perceived betrayals and rarely shifting his position once trust has been damaged, noting that he tends to “choose sides” and remember where loyalties lie.
