The actress has been quietly building a relationship with financier Oliver Haarmann, far from flashing cameras and red carpets. 

While the two have been spotted together on a few occasions, much of their romance has stayed under wraps, and that appears to be exactly how Witherspoon wants it as she embraces a more private chapter.

Reese Witherspoon has made it clear she wants to keep her personal life separate from her public image. 

Despite being one of Hollywood’s biggest names, she has kept her relationship with Oliver Haarmann largely out of view.

Speaking to the Daily Mail,  one source revealed, “She loves what she does but not the fame side of things and wants to keep her private life private.” 

That decision also influenced who she chose to date, with another insider saying she “needed someone who wasn’t in the film industry.”

Their relationship has only been seen in brief moments, including a cozy dinner in New York after arriving by helicopter and a more relaxed, affectionate outing on a yacht in Saint Tropez.

Witherspoon’s Strong Personality Shapes Her Relationships

While Reese Witherspoon values privacy, insiders say her personality also plays a big role in how she navigates relationships. 

One source described her as someone who prefers to take control.

“Reese is also very difficult to deal with as it is, since it’s either her way or the highway. That’s in Hollywood, that’s with friendships, and especially that is what happens in her relationships,” the insider said.

At the same time, Haarmann’s background outside the entertainment world seems to work in her favor. 

Another source explained that his not being part of Hollywood means he doesn’t compete for attention when they attend events together, making the relationship easier to manage.

Witherspoon is said to be even more private about this relationship than some of her celebrity friends. 

One insider told the outlet that the “Legally Blonde” star wants to keep things quieter than others in her circle.

“She knows that Oliver is a private man, so she respects him wanting to stay out of the spotlight,” the source shared.

Haarmann’s success has also been highlighted. As a co-founder of Searchlight Capital Partners and a former partner at KKR, he has built a fortune and is also a minority owner of the New York Islanders. 

His financial stability and independence have reportedly made things easier for Witherspoon.

“It also doesn’t hurt that he is worth hundreds of millions of dollars,” another source added, explaining that Witherspoon appreciates both his success and the fact that he isn’t part of the Hollywood scene.

Witherspoon Moves Forward After Two Divorces

Reese Witherspoon’s current outlook on relationships comes after two marriages. She split from her second husband, Jim Toth, in 2023 after 12 years together.

In a now-deleted joint statement, they said, “It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce.” 

They added, “We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”

Before that, Witherspoon was married to actor Ryan Phillippe, with whom she shares two children. 

Their marriage ended in 2006, and without a prenup, their shared earnings were split under California law.

Now, insiders say she isn’t rushing into marriage again. “Reese has told those close to her that she does not want to get married again, but of course that could change,” one source said.

Reese Witherspoon Embraces Change With Family And New Plans

Witherspoon is also stepping into a new phase of life beyond her relationship. After years of living a quieter life in Nashville, there are now talks that she may spend more time in New York.

“Reese is definitely a changed woman,” a source said, noting that she has been traveling more, taking on new projects, and trying new experiences.

The move would also bring her closer to her son Deacon, who studies in New York, and to Haarmann, who is based there.

 “She’s expressed wanting to be close to her son and also close to her boyfriend, who lives and works there,” the insider added.

Even with these changes, Witherspoon still prefers a quieter lifestyle. “She’s more a homebody and enjoys staying in with her man,” a source said, adding that she values private time over going out.

Friends have also been supportive of her new chapter. “Friends are happy for her; she seems to be having a good time with him, they do their own thing on their own time, and Oliver has never shown himself to be a problem,” one insider shared.
