The Oscars may have celebrated the year’s biggest cinematic achievements, but for Timothée Chalamet, Sunday night was a harsh reminder of the highs and lows of Hollywood.

Despite a whirlwind awards campaign and relentless promotion for “Marty Supreme,” the 30-year-old lost the coveted Best Actor trophy to Michael B. Jordan

From awkward jokes, viral moments, and tense encounters to navigating post-show fallout, Chalamet’s night quickly turned from hopeful triumph to a whirlwind of discomfort and intense scrutiny.

Timothée Chalamet’s campaign for “Marty Supreme” had built serious momentum, making his loss all the more noticeable.

The film, despite nine nominations, didn’t secure a single award, leaving its lead star empty-handed.

Unfortunately, the mood in the Dolby Theatre reportedly shifted fast. “During commercials, he was going up to people to talk, people were coming up to him, everyone was taking pictures,” a source told the Daily Mail

However, once the show resumed, things changed. “Then when the show came back on, Conan was joking about him and then he didn’t win, so it is weird to go up to someone that lost, because what do you end up talking about? The whole night was awkward.”

Adding to the tension were lingering jokes about his past comment that “no one cares about” ballet or opera, something that resurfaced in an uncomfortable way when ballerina Misty Copeland performed during the ceremony.

One insider described the environment as a “weird room to be in.”

After the ceremony, Timothée Chalamet and his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, pushed through the disappointment and attended the Vanity Fair Oscars Party. However, the pressure didn’t ease.

“They had cameras in their faces the whole time during the Oscar ceremony,” a source noted, adding that Kylie found the attention “uncomfortable.”

At the party, Kris Jenner was seen deep in conversation with Chalamet, seemingly offering reassurance.

“I am sure she put the loss in perspective… I am sure she told him he is super young and he will get his Oscar later,” the insider explained.

Meanwhile, tension quietly brewed due to Travis Scott, Kylie’s ex. The rapper posted an image of Jordan’s emotional win, which didn’t go unnoticed.

“That definitely felt like a jab at Timothee,” one insider claimed.

The situation became even more delicate when Chalamet and Scott were at risk of crossing paths. According to insiders, the two kept things polite but distant.

“They are respectful enough to each other for the sake of the kids, but Travis wouldn’t hang out with someone like Timothee if Kylie wasn’t dating him,” a source explained.

The tension isn’t entirely new. Scott previously appeared to reference the actor’s role in “Wonka” in his track “Meltdown,” adding another layer to the dynamic.

Despite everything, sources say Chalamet is ready to move on, with one noting he is “happy that it’s all over.”

Timothée Chalamet’s disappointment is amplified by just how much he invested in the role.

For “Marty Supreme,” he spent seven years training in table tennis and even altered his vision to better portray his character.

His promotional campaign was equally ambitious. The Hollywood star leaned heavily into the film’s theme, wearing orange outfits inspired by ping pong balls.

Chalamet also carried paddle-shaped accessories, launching a blimp, and staging viral marketing moments, including a “meeting” and a town hall with Matthew McConaughey for Austin college students.

He also took things further when he highlighted his relationship with Kylie publicly, thanking her during an awards speech.

“Thank you to my partner of three years. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he stated per The Blast after winning Best Actor at The Critics’ Choice Awards.

According to insiders, this visibility was strategic. One source revealed that Chalamet wanted to end speculations of being in a fake or broken relationship with the socialist.

Most importantly, “Timothee was on a campaign to win an Oscar.”

Sadly, despite strong numbers, $179 million at the box office, a 93% rating, and over 100 nominations, “Marty Supreme” didn’t resonate enough with Academy voters.

Now, Chalamet is reportedly stepping back. “He would have loved to have won, so he’s going to take this time to lay low,” a source shared. “He is going to enjoy the next few days away from it all to decompress.”

The insider also believes the loss may also test his relationship with Kylie. However, the reality TV star is reportedly still supportive.

“Kylie feels bad for Timothee because she feels like he was sabotaged… after he worked so hard on the film,” the source shared, though they clarified it is “not humiliating for her at all.”

As Chalamet prepares for his next move, one thing is clear: this moment is bigger than a single award.

“This is a big test for his psyche, career, relationship,” a source said, adding that he “refuses to get knocked down.”
