Tom Hardy might have the final laugh in the “MobLand” firing fiasco, as a new report claims Paramount bosses are considering bringing him back.

The movie star’s exit from the hit series is said to have angered viewers, sparking heavy backlash, which has left producers stunned and in “crisis” mode over the future of the show.

While Tom Hardy has yet to address his firing, his co-star, Dame Helen Mirren, who was said to have butt heads with him on set, showed support for the actor publicly, seemingly shutting down the feud rumors.

According to sources who spoke to the Mail on Sunday, Hardy is back in touch with bosses of his TV show, “MobLand,” after negative feedback from their viewers forced them to rethink their decision to axe the actor from the show.

Hardy had reportedly gotten into multiple clashes with the producers over filming schedules and delays, which ultimately caused them to let him go.

However, things didn’t turn out as expected. Thanks to the overwhelming support and love viewers expressed for Hardy and his character, Harry Da Souza, the bigwigs are said to be making a bid to bring the actor back to the series.

Executive meetings reportedly took place within the last two weeks, but sources claim Hardy has yet to officially sign on for a return to the series that also stars A-list actors Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.

Explaining things further, one source shared that the producers “underestimated” Hardy’s star power and how much of an impact his axing would cause.

They noted that the showrunners have been left with a “huge crisis” on their hands, after initially believing they could easily carry on without Hardy.

“Tom is a star, the audience love him but the bosses underestimated that,” the source said. “They didn’t realize the backlash they would get. It has been extraordinary, the vibe they are getting is that there is no MobLand if there is no Tom.”

“The whole narrative has changed from them believing they can carry on without him to a huge crisis. It has taken this for them to realize how loved Tom is by the viewers,” the insider added.

Most of Hardy’s grievances with the showrunners reportedly stemmed from the constant delay in production due to script-writing issues.

According to the Mail on Sunday, the actor is “dead set” on stepping away from Hollywood by the end of this year.

He and his wife, 44-year-old Charlotte Riley, are reportedly planning to take a multi-year hiatus to focus on spending quality time with their 11 and six-year-old kids.

Hardy’s family plans were threatened by agonizingly slow production delays, which sparked furious clashes with producers as shooting the potential third season would then start late this year and bleed into 2027.

On “MobLand,” the actor plays Harry, a slick fixer for the Harrigan crime family run by Conrad (Brosnan) and his wife Maeve (Dame Helen). Now, despite his firing, the door was left open for Hardy’s return, as his character was not written out at the conclusion of season two.

Away from his clash with producers, Hardy is also said to have ruffled the feathers of his co-star, Mirren, with his attitude on set.

The actress reportedly grew frustrated with Hardy’s behavior and alleged tendency to show up late to set.

“She is getting increasingly frustrated with Tom and his attitude,” a source shared with the Daily Mail. “He can be late to filming, too, and that is annoying for Dame Helen, who is extremely professional and disciplined.”

“His tone is something Dame Helen doesn’t like, along with his lateness,” the insider added.

The Hollywood Reporter also shed light on the on-set drama, with a source claiming that there were moments when Hardy “refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time.”

“He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play,” the source noted. “Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”

Despite the reports of tension between Mirren and Hardy, the actress showed support for her co-star and spoke positively about him.

Mirren even stated that she would “absolutely” work with the actor again in “a f-cking heartbeat,” telling Variety that she thinks he is “the most amazing actor.”

“I’ve learnt over the years that some people get to things faster,” Mirren noted. “As long as what’s on the screen is fantastic, I’m totally chilled with however someone gets there.”

She then praised Hardy again, calling him a “very special person” and “absolutely remarkable,” and stressing that her support for him is “genuine and heartfelt.”

Meanwhile, Hardy’s return to the series remains up in the air. Previous reports indicated that his planned hiatus from Hollywood isn’t just for family time, but also due to the severe physical toll of his acting roles, with the star admitting his body is “falling to bits.”
