While speculation has naturally turned to whether wedding bells are next, those closest to the couple say Wilson is far more focused on soaking up life as a new dad than rushing into another major milestone.

While the arrival of the couple’s first child has naturally sparked questions about whether wedding bells could be next, those closest to Wilson insist marriage isn’t at the top of the list. 

According to a Daily Mail insider, the actor and Kendall Yates are perfectly content focusing on their daughter instead of placing pressure on themselves to reach another milestone. 

The source explained that Wilson feels becoming a father later in life has worked out exactly as it should because his career and finances are now firmly established. 

“Everything else in his life is set in stone so he can now focus on being a dad. If this happened years ago, he might not have had everything together,” the insider said. 

The same source noted that Yates is equally committed to their current lifestyle and is “completely on board to be a stay-at-home mom.”

In addition, the insider stressed that there is “no rush to the altar” for the duo and they would get married at their own time.

Wilson Says Becoming A Father Has Been His Proudest Achievement

Luke Wilson himself recently gave fans one of his rare glimpses into his private life while promoting his upcoming television series “The Hawk.” 

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the 54-year-old admitted he was still adjusting to sleepless nights but couldn’t hide how much he has embraced fatherhood. 

“I’m trying to do a good job,” he said before admitting that every new parent was right about how life-changing the experience could be.  “It’s just what everybody says about it but yeah… I’m very proud to be a dad,” Wilson shared. 

His comments came only days after he stepped out alongside Yates and their newborn daughter at a press reception for a Netflix comedy series, marking one of the family’s first public appearances together since welcoming their baby.

Long before he became a first-time father at 54, Wilson was already talking openly about his hopes of starting a family. 

In a 2007 interview with PEOPLE, the actor admitted he was single but optimistic about what the future could hold. “I don’t have a girlfriend, but I wouldn’t mind one,” he said, before revealing that fatherhood had always been part of his long-term plans. 

“I definitely want [kids] at some point,” he added. Wilson also spoke about his close-knit family, noting that his parents would be thrilled to welcome even more grandchildren. 

“I’m sure they’d love more,” he said, referring to his brothers Owen and Andrew already having children.  

Luke Wilson And Kendall Yates Have Kept Their Romance Away From Hollywood

Unlike many celebrity couples, Wilson and Yates have spent more than two years avoiding the spotlight. 

The pair, who reportedly met through mutual friends, were first photographed together during a beach outing in January 2023 before quietly continuing their relationship behind the scenes. 

They later attended the Los Angeles premiere of “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1” in June 2024, but otherwise made very few appearances together. 

Even when Yates was photographed with a noticeable baby bump earlier this year, neither of them publicly addressed the pregnancy. 

According to an insider, that discretion is intentional because the couple “don’t want to be a celebrity couple.” Friends describe them as “homebodies” who have kept their relationship “super secret,” while Yates recently deactivated her Instagram account. 

Their latest appearance also reignited conversation about their 24-year age gap, with some comparing the romance to Wilson’s “Old School” character Mitch Martin, though those close to the pair say the outside chatter has never influenced their relationship.

Kendall Yates Has Built A Career Outside The Entertainment Industry

Although Luke Wilson has spent decades in front of cameras, Yates has carved out a very different professional path. 

Raised in Wimberley, Texas, alongside her parents, Steven and Stacey, and older brother Tyler, she attended the University of Texas before briefly pursuing modeling. 

In recent years, however, her attention shifted toward the wellness industry. Together with friend Mackenzie Legg, she co-founded Salted Vanilla Movement and the wellness newsletter Breź Wellness, platforms centered on Pilates, nutritious recipes, functional movement, curated playlists, and intentional living. She is also described as a naturopathic doctor in training.
