Hilaria Baldwin has pushed back against accusations she’s a “gold digger” in her marriage to actor Alec Baldwin, declaring that she’s “not like that.”

The “Dancing With The Stars” alum pointed out that they’ve welcomed seven children during their 14-year marriage, saying that’s an awfully large family for an alleged gold digger to have.

However, the couple continues to face rumors of marital troubles, with Hilaria previously admitting they sought therapy because of their 26-year age gap.

Hilaria Baldwin is setting the record straight on long-standing criticism surrounding her marriage to Alec Baldwin.

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, the 42-year-old mother of seven acknowledged that critics have long claimed she married the veteran actor for his money.

However, she firmly rejected the accusation, insisting their relationship has always been genuine and revealing that she often refused expensive gifts when they first started dating.

“Yes, it hurt initially,” she said, referencing the narrative that she married for money. “Because I’m not that way. He, from the beginning — I don’t think I’ve ever said this — but he would always try to buy me things, and I would be like, ‘No, I don’t want this.'”

Hilaria Explains Why She Refused Alec Baldwin’s Gifts

The couple first met in 2011 at a Manhattan restaurant when Hilaria was a 27-year-old yoga instructor, and Alec was 53.

They married the following year and have since built a large family with children Carmen, Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, Eduardo, María, and Ilaria. Alec also shares daughter Ireland with his ex-wife, Kim Basinger.

Hilaria recalled living in a small New York City apartment at the time and even using an old laptop to warm her hands at night. Despite her modest lifestyle, she consistently turned down lavish gifts from the “Beetlejuice” star because she wanted to be certain her feelings for him had nothing to do with money.

“I was like, ‘I don’t want you to buy me something, because I want to know that I like you for you, because I don’t want to be a prisoner either,'” she said. “Like hello, it’s two ways: People who go into that, they get stuck in a really bad situation. And I was like, ‘I need to know that I want to be here.'”

Elsewhere during the interview, Hilaria turned her attention to motherhood, revealing that she recently traveled with her children without Alec or a nanny.

While she admitted the trip became overwhelming at times, it also made her realize there are still basic life skills her children need to learn.

She said it dawned on her that they don’t know how to do simple household tasks on their own, including loading the dishwasher, cleaning the floor, and eating without making a “big mess.”

“I had to bring them back to my roots, where I met Alec, and being like, ‘Hey, you know what? You need to learn how to do things on your own so you don’t get stuck in something,'” Hilaria said.

“Now it’s not their fault. They don’t have a choice. This is how they’ve been raised,” she added. “So now we’re in a process of going back to that. And they know not to put all the cups right side up in a dishwasher.”

Alec And Hilaria’s Marital Troubles

Alec and Hilaria have continued to face speculation about the state of their marriage following several difficult years, including the actor’s involvement in the fatal 2021 “Rust” set shooting.

Early last year, the couple fueled fresh rumors during an awkward interview with Extra while discussing the possibility of renewing their reality series, “The Baldwins,” for a second season.

When Alec attempted to answer a question, Hilaria cut him off and told him, “When I’m talking, you’re not talking.” After he continued chiming in with unrelated comments, she added, “…You’re annoying me. Stop. It’s not cute.”

The strain in their relationship was further highlighted on their TLC series, where Alec claimed Hilaria always wanted things her way and no longer respected his opinions.

“You and I used to be more collaborative. We’d argue. We’d discuss. We’d have some accommodation. One day, you changed. No matter what I said, (you said) no,” he said, per the Daily Mail.

Hilaria pushed back, replying, “I agree that’s your reality of it. But what I used to do is say yes and do whatever I wanted and keep it from you.”

“You gaslit me,” Alec responded.

During a 2025 appearance on the “Uncut and Uncensored” podcast, Hilaria also acknowledged that the couple’s 26-year age gap created challenges in their relationship and revealed they sought therapy.

“I don’t believe that age is just a number, at least in our situation. There are certain things where I have to look at him and say, ‘He has 26 more years of experience,'” she explained, per Page Six.

“And sometimes that’s a flex, and sometimes that means that we need to do a little therapy,” Hilaria added.
