Gerber has pulled back the curtain on one of the most vulnerable parts of her life as an industry kid. The model shed light on the difficult part of having a presence in the entertainment industry while going through personal struggles.

She revealed that the glare of public scrutiny played a significant role in how she coped with the “disordered eating” she once suffered from. Noting that commenting on other people’s physiques never helps them get over their illnesses, Gerber stressed that “Negativity has never saved someone’s life.”

The rising actress caught eyes from her teenage years, following in the footsteps of her world-famous mother, who was one of the top supermodels of the 90s. Speaking to Vogue in the September issue, she observed that “We’re clearly in one of those cycles right now where people are very, very, very thin.”

Gerber continued speaking from a personal standpoint, confessing that she is “jealous of my mom’s body” and has always been compared to Crawford. “As someone who’s been thin most of my life… I would have loved to be born with boobs and a butt,” the 24-year-old admitted. 

While promoting her latest movie “The Shards,” in which she stars alongside Homer Gere, Gerber disclosed that she vehemently disagrees with fans who say the resemblance between her and her mother is uncanny. She added that while she sees fans describing her as Crawford’s doppelganger as an honor, she does not see the resemblance.

“In all seriousness, it’s an honor when people tell me I look like my mom. I wish I did. I think even on my best days, I’m not even close,” Gerber told Yahoo! Entertainment. She went on singing her mom’s praises as the most beautiful woman before adding, “If there’s any way that I remind anyone of her, it’s just like the largest compliment.”

Gerber sat down with ELLE for a chat three years ago, where she discussed the silver lining of her job as a model. She shared insights into how she handles rejection as a model, noting that she learned not to take it personally.

“The Shards” actress shared that she went in with a pre-existing mental note that she was not being rejected for anything about her as a person. Even with that mentality, rejection in the modeling industry still hurts because showing yourself means opening up to criticism. 

Gerber has also faced criticism for benefiting from her mother’s notoriety, as she is often tagged a “nepo baby.” While acknowledging that her mother’s legendary status as a supermodel has helped her in some aspects, she revealed that it does not extend to her growing career as an actress.

“With acting, it’s so different. No artist is going to sacrifice their vision for someone’s kid,” she said, stressing that one’s talents had to speak for them.

Amid The High-Flying Modeling And Acting Career Is A Family Struggle

Crawford welcomed her first child, Presley, with her husband Rande in 1999. Presley, who is also a model, reportedly struggles with substance abuse. Last December, he disclosed that he had been on several depressant medications to treat his “panic attacks.”

In her recent Vogue interview, Gerber got candid about her brother’s drug use and mental health following his “decade-long struggle with drug addiction.” She noted that seeing her brother in such a state was never easy, which prompted her to decide to keep her needs to herself.

Gerber explained that it felt like too much of a burden for her parents to have two kids with pressing needs; hence, she started putting hers on the back burner. As reported by PEOPLE, the actress felt refreshed seeing her brother talk openly about his battles, as their parents often kept those parts of their lives very private.

Gerber is currently in a relationship with actor Lewis Pullman. The pair sparked relationship rumors last year, and she has been vocal about the love they share. Before coupling up with Pullman, Gerber had dabbled in the dating pool with popular entertainers like Pete Davidson, Jacob Elordi, and Austin Butler.

The actress raised eyebrows with her relationship with comedian Davidson due to their age gap, seemingly walking in her mother’s footsteps. Crawford famously dated and married Richard Gere, who was 17 years older than her.

The Blast shared that during a podcast appearance last year, Gerber offered relationship advice to listeners based on her experience dating older men.
