Perez Hilton received emergency treatment for both an overdose and multiple injuries following his livestreamed suicide attempt earlier this month, according to a newly obtained Florida incident report. The report provides the first official indication that an overdose was among the medical emergencies responders confronted after entering the celebrity blogger’s Miami home on August 4. Hilton, whose legal name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., remains hospitalized as his family warns that his physical and mental recovery will require considerable time.

A Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office incident report obtained by PEOPLE states that a fire rescue team “began treatment on scene for multiple lacerations and an overdose.” Hilton was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he has continued receiving medical and mental health care.

The report does not identify what substance was involved in the overdose, how much was taken or when it was ingested. It also does not establish whether it involved medication connected to a separate incident his sister described from weeks earlier.

That distinction is significant because Barbara Lavandeira previously revealed that Hilton had taken leftover painkillers on another occasion before voluntarily seeking psychiatric treatment. The available reporting does not confirm that the same medication was involved on August 4.

According to the incident report, Lavandeira contacted law enforcement after discovering her brother in crisis during a TikTok livestream. She quickly removed Hilton’s three children, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8, from the home before calling for help.

Hilton reportedly followed them outside and approached the vehicle before returning to the house and locking himself inside. Officers established a perimeter around the property. Family members and authorities later entered the residence and brought Hilton into the living room so emergency responders could begin treating him.

Lavandeira confirmed in an interview with Page Six that her brother remains under professional care. “His physical and mental recovery is going to take a lot of time, but we remain hopeful,” she said. “He has no access to a cellphone, social media or the internet. Everyone’s focus is on helping him recover physically and making sure he receives the mental and emotional care and support he needs.”

Hilton’s access to visitors and conversations with relatives has reportedly remained limited. His sister said it is “still far too early to know the extent of any lasting damage or scarring” resulting from his injuries.

She also declined to speculate about how much Hilton remembers from the crisis, explaining that those conversations will happen only when his medical team believes he is prepared. “He’s with medical professionals, and right now, the focus needs to remain on his treatment and recovery. There’ll be time for those conversations when his doctors believe he’s ready,” Lavandeira said.

The family has not provided a timeline for when Hilton could leave the hospital or return home.

Lavandeira also disclosed that Hilton had been experiencing “severe depression” and voluntarily checked himself into a hospital approximately two weeks before the August 4 emergency. “He told us that a few days earlier, he had felt empty, hopeless, and like he was a burden on everyone,” she recalled. “He then admitted that one night when he couldn’t sleep, he had taken the remaining painkillers from his surgery in March. He said he just wanted to sleep.”

His sister took him to the hospital, where he reportedly remained for several days of evaluation and treatment. After his discharge, Lavandeira believed Hilton “seemed” and “looked better.” He resumed therapy and completed an intake call for an intensive outpatient program one day before the livestreamed incident.

The family’s account shows that Hilton had been seeking professional assistance before the crisis. It also underscores that someone may remain at serious risk even when they appear to be improving or are already receiving care.

Hilton’s mental health struggles followed a series of serious physical health emergencies. In March, he spent 21 days in the hospital after developing an ulcer, a perforation, and sepsis. He underwent multiple procedures during that hospitalization. A blood clot was later discovered in his leg, requiring another emergency surgery.

Lavandeira said the medical ordeal placed considerable strain on both her brother’s body and mind. However, no medical professional treating Hilton has publicly identified a single cause for his August 4 crisis.

His sister described the day she found him as one of “the darkest days” her family has experienced. “What I can say with certainty is that I didn’t recognize my brother when I looked at him,” she said.

After recognizing the severity of the emergency, Lavandeira prioritized removing the children and contacting authorities.

Hilton’s mother, Teresita Lavandeira, filed for temporary custody of his three children on August 7. Barbara has emphasized that the arrangement is intended to provide the children with stability while their father remains hospitalized. She said the family’s goal is for Hilton to resume caring for them once he is healthy and able to do so safely.

For now, the family is following guidance from Hilton’s doctors and has asked for privacy as he begins what they expect to be a lengthy recovery.
