According to the incident report, Lavandeira contacted law enforcement after discovering her brother in crisis during a TikTok livestream. She quickly removed Hilton’s three children, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8, from the home before calling for help.

Hilton reportedly followed them outside and approached the vehicle before returning to the house and locking himself inside. Officers established a perimeter around the property. Hilton’s mental health struggles followed a series of serious physical health emergencies. In March, he spent 21 days in the hospital after developing an ulcer, a perforation, and sepsis. He underwent multiple procedures during that hospitalization. A blood clot was later discovered in his leg, requiring another emergency surgery.

Lavandeira said the medical ordeal placed considerable strain on both her brother’s body and mind. However, no medical professional treating Hilton has publicly identified a single cause for his August 4 crisis.

His sister described the day she found him as one of “the darkest days” her family has experienced. “What I can say with certainty is that I didn’t recognize my brother when I looked at him,” she said.
