Actress Lena Dunham has been friends with Taylor Swift for a long time, and although the guest list has been kept under wraps, many fans believe that the “Girls” showrunner might have scored an invite to the “Delicate” singer’s wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce. But the day wasn’t about Swift! The author, who just released her memoir “Famesick” a few weeks back, was celebrating her 40th birthday!

On May 13, fans were elated to see Lena Dunham snap a selfie featuring Taylor Swift, Emily Ratajkowski, Romain Gavras, and Andrew Rannells. The “Look What You Made Me Do” singer was spotted in London last week and was recently photographed dining with her parents in New York City.

In the comments, one fan noted that Taylor was “drinking so she’s so not pregnant,” while another follower praised the group as “legends” and “beautiful people.” Another user joked, “This photo got the Internet looking like a random celebrity crossover episode.” The laughs kept coming when another fan added, “Taylor is giving the times when your mom and you go to eat with your classmates and their parents after a school activity.”

In her memoir, “Famesick,” Dunham dedicated a passage to her longtime friend, whom she addressed as “TayTay” in the book.

“TayTay — you sing the songs I wrote this book to, the stories that pulled these stories out of me, the music that makes the whole world feel seen,” Dunham wrote, per PEOPLE magazine. “And yet somehow, miraculously, you also pick up every desperate call at every desperate hour.”

“I love you so much and forever, for the reasons that everyone does and for reasons all my own,” she added.

Dunham Says Swift Is ‘One Of My Best Friends In The World’

In a separate interview with the publication, Dunham said, “It’s a crazy thing, because she’s one of my best friends in the world, but she’s also my favorite music.”

“My favorite musicians are my husband [Luis Felber] and Taylor Swift,” she added, revealing that Swift’s December 2020 album Evermore played a “big role in this book.”

“There was a lot of Evermore happening,” she revealed. “I love all her eras for different reasons, but I think it’s just about when it hit in my life and the way that she was able to tell these very complete narrative stories in the context of a song that really inspired me, and so I spent a lot of time listening to Evermore on repeat.”

Lena Dunham Is Also A Fan Of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’

In addition to Evermore, Dunham revealed that she was also a fan of listening to Swift’s eleventh original studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. She cited “Guilty as Sin” and “The Alchemy” as two of her favorite songs from that album.

Swift and Dunham have been friends for a long time. The “Not That Kind of Girl” author appeared in Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video in 2015 and later joined her on stage at the 1989 World Tour stop at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey that same year. Swift also served as a bridesmaid in Dunham’s September 2021 wedding, so it’s no surprise that Dunham would have scored an invite to Swift’s upcoming wedding.

The two have remained close over the years. Dunham attended Swift’s Eras Tour when she performed at Wembley Stadium in London in 2024 and supported her fiancé, Travis Kelce, at a Kansas City Chiefs game in December 2025.
