Pop star Britney Spears has reportedly checked into rehab over a month after she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The “Oops!… I Did It Again” singer was pulled over near her home in Ventura, California, on March 4. She was released the following day, pending a court hearing in early May.
Britney Spears Reportedly Checks Into Rehab Voluntarily

On Sunday, April 12, sources told Us Weekly that the “Toxic” singer had voluntarily entered rehab weeks after she was seen laughing and dancing on a yacht with her two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.
Last month, an insider told the publication that the singer has been sober and has been attending AA meetings. It is not clear what prompted her sudden decision to enter rehab now.
According to a 911 audio call, the pop star’s car was seen speeding and driving “in and out of lanes.” The call operator also reported that the car was “erratic[ly] braking, swerving and driving with no tail light.”
She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, May 4.
Britney Has Reportedly Been Struggling With ‘Bad Habits’ For Years

In late March, another source told Us Weekly that her friends and family were treating her sobriety as a “delicate” situation.
A second source claimed that “It wasn’t a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’ she would get arrested.” The insider claimed that she had been making a lot of “bad choices” since her divorce from actor Sam Asghari.
The two met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016. He supported her through the end of her conservatorship in 2021, and they married the following year; however, he filed for divorce in 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
Britney Spears Felt ‘Invincible’ Following The End Of Her Conservatorship

Another source claimed that she felt “invincible” ever since she was freed from her court-ordered conservatorship, which started in February 2008 and lasted about 13 years.
“She has this tendency to think she’s kind of invincible, especially since she’s been free from the conservatorship,” the source told the publication. “For a while, she felt like there were no real consequences, but lately, it’s started to catch up with her.”
One insider claimed that pills are her “real vice” and claimed that she has “been privately struggling with it for two to three years now.” They went on to state that she has “started falling back into old habits” since she stopped being drug tested following the end of her conservatorship.
Britney’s Former Lawyer Is Still Proud Of Her

After her court-appointed attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, resigned, the “Crossroads” actress retained Mathew Rosengart to see her through the end of her conservatorship. The former federal prosecutor had her estranged father, Jamie Spears, suspended as her conservator two months before a Los Angeles judge terminated the conservatorship.
He helped her obtain several lucrative deals, including the rights to her bestselling 2023 memoir, “The Woman In Me.” He stepped down from his role the following year, after Britney and Jamie settled their court case and officially ended her conservatorship.
Mathew Rosengart Praises Britney Spears As An ‘Icon’

In a brief statement made approximately two weeks after her arrest, Rosengart told Us Weekly that it was an “honor” to work with her and said that he was certain that Britney would “take the right steps” following her arrest.
“It was my great honor to work with and protect Britney as her litigator, and I will always be proud of her and the work we did together, ranging from helping, at her request and direction, to restore her freedom, civil rights and civil liberties after a 13-year conservatorship that stripped her of those rights, to many other matters,” he said.
“Britney is and always will be an icon,” he continued. “While I do not have the facts concerning March 4, with freedom comes responsibility, and I was pleased to see that Britney will take the right steps and comply with the law. I’ll always care greatly about her and help and support her in any way I can.”
Although she deactivated her Instagram page following her arrest, it is still live as of this writing, and her videos with her sons remain up.
