In the wake of their recent appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling drew reactions from netizens who were shocked by how different they looked.

Unsurprisingly, speculation about plastic surgery quickly surfaced online, and a plastic surgeon, Dr. Sean McNally, has now weighed in on the claims in a conversation with the Daily Mail.

According to the doctor, he saw no "evidence of recent facial surgical procedures" on Mendes. However, he suggested that she may have opted for less invasive treatments such as Botox or fillers, which are often used to reduce signs of aging.

"I do suspect she's a consistent user of Botox and fillers," said the plastic surgeon.

"She has little evidence of wrinkles across her forehead, which would be very likely at 52, and I suspect fillers to both her lips and midface given their current volume compared to older pictures," he added about Mendes.

Analyzing Mendes' look further, McNally claimed there is also a strong possibility that the actress may have opted for a procedure known as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or BroadBand Light (BBL).

These treatments are described as non-invasive facial procedures that help improve skin appearance by targeting pigmentation, redness, and sun damage, ultimately giving the skin a clearer and more even tone.

"Age spots are a common concern for patients 40+, and while good skin care and sun protection can help, I suspect she's utilizing IPL or BBL (not technically a laser but filtered light) to help keep those darker skin spots at bay," the surgeon added.

As for Gosling, McNally suggested that the actor may also have used fillers, similar to what he alleged about his partner.

He claimed the "Fall Guy" star may have specifically targeted his midface with the procedure, likely to restore volume as the effect of aging creeps in.

"This is a common spot of concern for aging since the fat pad drops and shrinks, making people look older and hollow there," the medical expert emphasized.

In the past, Mendes has admitted her willingness to use cosmetic procedures, especially noting she has a preference for non-invasive options.

"I'm not afraid to try things that are safe, because most of these little treatments, let's say, are reversible," she said in an October 2024 interview with the Times.
