Jelly Roll opens up about the injury he hid during Grammy week and the moment that pushed him to finally speak out.

Jelly Roll had one of the biggest nights of his career at the 2026 Grammy Awards, but fans had no idea he was powering through serious pain.
Days after taking home multiple trophies, the country-rap star revealed he had secretly broken his collarbone before music’s biggest night.
In a social media post, Jelly Roll explained why he kept quiet, how the injury happened, and what finally pushed him to speak out.

Jelly Roll surprised fans when he confessed he had been keeping something from them.
In an Instagram clip posted March 1, the 41-year-old shared that he had flipped his ATV earlier this year, breaking his collarbone in the process.
“I’ve been keeping a secret from y’all…,” he wrote in the caption.
In the video, he walked around the repaired vehicle and showed followers an X-ray image, a snapshot of himself performing at the Grammy Awards, and a look at the ATV before it was fixed.
Reflecting on the moment he decided to ride again, he admitted, “Y’all just took this thing out for the first time since I flipped it. I broke my collarbone. I was so scared to get back on this thing.”
He explained that fear nearly kept him off it for good, adding that he knew waiting would only make it worse.
Recovery from a broken collarbone can take up to 12 weeks, according to the Cleveland Clinic, making his Grammy appearance even more impressive.
Jelly Roll Says Grammy Hugs Left Him Wanting To ‘Scream’

While riding the ATV again, Jelly Roll said he couldn’t stop thinking about Grammy week. That’s when it hit him just how much pain he had been masking.
“I was just thinking, I was out there running all over the Grammys with a broken collarbone,” he shared. “Every time I hugged somebody that week, I wanted to scream. I just didn’t say it, but every time somebody squeezed me, dude, I thought I was gonna cry.”
Despite the discomfort, Jelly Roll showed up smiling alongside his wife, Bunnie Xo, and celebrated major wins.
He took home Best Contemporary Country Album for "Beautifully Broken," Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song with Brandon Lake for “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” and Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Shaboozey for “Amen.”
Later, speaking about the milestone, he credited his supporters. “This would never have happened without them,” he told PEOPLE, reflecting on the fans who believed in him from the beginning.
Jelly Roll Calls ATV Crash ‘User Error’ And Shares His Lesson
The accident itself, Jelly Roll admitted, wasn’t the machine’s fault.
Looking at the restored ATV, he praised the repair work, saying, “I tell y’all what though, my brother got it fixed, dude, and he killed it. It’s brand new, I figured I had totaled it.”
He took responsibility for the crash, explaining, “Sometimes the machine can do more than the user thinks it can. This was all user error.”
For the rapper, getting back on the ATV wasn’t just about riding; it was about facing fear head-on.
He didn’t want the memory of the accident to grow into something bigger than it needed to be.
Ending his video on an encouraging note, he told fans, “Anyways, moral of the story, get back on that pony baby. Love y’all.”
Fans React To Jelly Roll’s Revelation
Fans couldn’t hold back their excitement seeing Jelly Roll in good health, and in no time, the comments section was flooded with reactions.
“I know that feeling all too well! I rolled my 4 wheeler in 2018, broke my collar bone in half and the tibia spine in my knee. My collarbone healed sideways in the shape of a wishbone, but it doesn’t bother me at all. Be careful and stay safe,” one person wrote.
Another person commented, “So very glad you are ok!!! Love, love, love you!!,” while a third shared, “I got into a car accident in December and haven’t driven since. I plan to again but keep saying not yet. Glad you're ok.”
Others commented on Jelly Roll’s weight loss, noting that he looked very good.
Jelly Roll Talks About Weightloss And Fatherhood
Jelly Roll’s weight loss has been a big topic of discussion in recent months.
As The Blast reported in January 2026, the country star explained that his dramatic weight loss, which saw him shed around 300 pounds, had transformed not just his health but his role as a father.
The father of two revealed that losing weight made him more present and active in his children’s lives.
According to Jelly Roll, it helped him feel physically better and emotionally connected to his kids, noting that he had begun coaching his son Noah’s basketball team, something he never imagined doing when he weighed more than 500 pounds.
Jelly Roll said losing weight also brought him closer to God and to himself, and that being healthier allowed him to be more involved, active, and confident as a father.
This made everyday moments, like attending games and playing with his children, easier and more enjoyable than before.
