The insider also revealed that the leadership was warned about potential backlash, pointing to public reactions at the 2026 BAFTA Awards as evidence of zero tolerance for offensive remarks. However, the concerns were dismissed as the bosses felt “enough time had passed” since West’s controversy. 

The source continued shedding light on how the heat is unfolding. “It’s kicking off in the offices because everyone feels that a huge amount of time has been wasted booking him when they knew there was a chance that he couldn’t come,” they said. 

Other artists were reportedly in the mix, including Jay-Z, a favorite among those opposed to West due to the potential for a Beyoncé surprise. Clipse, Tyler, the Creator, and J. Cole were also contemplated on. “It’s mayhem,” the source concluded.

The reported chaos comes after the UK government revoked West’s visa, citing concerns tied to his past comments.

Per The Blast, the Home Office stressed in their statement that individuals seen as threats to public safety or linked to extremist rhetoric can be denied entry.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer took to X in a similar vein, emphasizing that the government supports the Jewish community and would take decisions to uphold their values.

Even before the UK shut out the “Runaway” singer, the festival had already taken a financial hit due to its ties to the 48-year-old Grammy winner, with several major brands quietly stepping away from the event.

Most recently, PayPal, a regular partner of Live Nation UK Festivals, withdrew its support. Earlier, industry heavyweights like Diageo and Pepsi had also pulled out, though neither explicitly linked their exit to West.

The Rapper Promised To Show A ‘Change Through Actions’ Before The Ban

Before the borders were closed to the Yeezy founder, West addressed the backlash to his choice as headliner, reiterating his apology and signaling a desire to make amends.

As The Blast reported, the rapper explained that his intention for the show was to bring “unity, peace, and love,” and acknowledged he was willing to do more to show the change. 

“I know words aren’t enough. I’ll have to show change through my actions. If you’re open, I’m here,” West wrote. 

Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, also dropped a public plea for forgiveness for the artist in a statement on Facebook. Benn urged audiences to reconsider their stance and stressed the importance of forgiveness. 

Red Flags About West Headlining Were Spotted Since The Beginning 

As organizers now scramble to manage refunds and contain the fallout, insiders say the warning signs were evident early on. 

Per The Blast, sources claimed that initial attempts to secure venues reportedly hit roadblocks, with major stadiums declining to host the event.

Other concerns surfaced in the planning process as a source revealed the organizers were warned against hosting the singer in North London, close to a large Jewish community. However, the concerns were ignored. 

Kanye West Seen Looking Unfazed By Setback 

Despite the storm surrounding West, he was spotted appearing unfazed during an appearance at The Lab at Hollywood Improv in Los Angeles.

According to The Blast, observers noted that West appeared relaxed and even cheerful as he took the stage alongside actor Deon Cole and comedian Ocean Glapion, joining an improvised set. 

The performance earned him praises, with some calling him a “modern-day Michael Jackson.”
