Lisa Rinna released her latest book, a memoir called “You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It,” in February 2026. Since its release and amid multiple passages from the book going viral, it has become a New York Times Bestseller. Now, the former “RHOBH” star is opening up about her use of ghostwriters, a practice that many say is fairly common among celebrities who publish memoirs and other nonfiction books.
Lisa Rinna Says She’s Not A Writer

Rinna appeared on the March 13 episode of the “Bookmarked by Reese’s Book Club” podcast to promote her new book. While on, she stated that she had no intention of writing another book. For context, the “Days of Our Lives” alum has four titles, including “You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It.” However, an agent approached her about writing a memoir.
Rinna said on the podcast,” I don’t write my own book; I have to have a ghostwriter because I am not a writer, and that’s just the truth. So I said, ‘Let me meet with three ghostwriters, and if I connect to one, I’ll do it.'”
She continued, “So, I met three different ghostwriters, and I connected to one. And I thought. ‘This would be fun.’ I thought, ‘They had my voice, they had an idea of who I am and my whole career.’ I just took a risk, and it turned out to be a very cathartic, very great experience.”
The ‘RHOBH’ Star Announced The Book In 2025

Rinna continued in the interview by briefly discussing her collaboration with the ghostwriter, saying she truly enjoyed the process. According to her, “It was meant to happen. And I was able to tell my side of things and how I feel, and I’m really glad I did it.”
The “RHOBH” alum announced the new book in September 2025. She told PEOPLE at the time, “I don’t know if everyone is ready for all of the truth I am unloading in this book. But I was certainly ready to tell it.”
She went on, “Life comes with a lot of ups and downs, and so much of it gets lost ‘in the editing,’ if you will. It was time to share the director’s cut. I put so much of myself into this book; the good, the bad, and the wackadoodle. It feels really good to see it finally come together.”
Rinna added of the memoir, “The vault is open, honey!”
Fans Are Mixed On Rinna’s Honesty

Many “RHOBH” fans took to social media to react to Rina admitting to using ghostwriters for her books. One person wrote, “My dad was a ghostwriter for many non-fiction authors, and he was not recognized. That was part of the agreement. Many may not realize that even many very well-known authors use ghost writers for their novels, especially when they have so many they are working on.”
Someone else said, “If you’re not a writer, then don’t write a book. If you want someone to help you write your thoughts or experience, then give them a platform and credit. Is not that hard.”
Another person said, “If you can’t write, you’re maybe not in the best position to be paid millions of dollars for ‘your’ book. This is anti-intellectualism in action and tbh, it’s disappointing to see celebrated by a book club.”
A different social media user said, “Then it shouldn’t have her name as the author on the cover! They don’t even consider co-authoring. This is crazy, and you shouldn’t be promoting this behavior.”
Lastly, someone else defended her, writing, “Ghostwriting takes talent and hard work and is absolutely a profession. I would so much rather a celebrity retained a ghost writer than use AI. The value is to have human stories told by humans. Ghost writing makes that happen.”
‘You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It’ Was An Instant Bestseller

Rinna’s “You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It” was released by Dey Street Books on February 24. Upon its release, the publishing company began referring to it as “the instant New York Times Bestseller.”
According to Tech & Book Talk at SSCL, the memoir debuted at number 6 on the nonfiction list, dated March 15. This success made her a repeat New York Times Bestselling author. Her others are “Rinnavation” and “The Big, Fun Sexy Sex Book.”
Rinna Isn’t Returning To ‘RHOBH’

Reports began surfacing in March 2026 that Kyle Richards would be departing “RHOBH” and that Rinna would be returning. Notably, this came after the former Bravo star joked about needing a large sum of money to return to the series after leaving in 2023.
However, a new report from TMZ says this isn’t the case at all and that Rinna isn’t returning. The outlet says that Rinna has not been approached to appear on the show moving forward.
