The cast of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” is pulling back the curtain, opening up about the real-life challenges and struggles that don’t always make it to air – from navigating divorce and motherhood to struggling with health conditions. While fans of the show are never left feeling there’s not enough drama in front of cameras, sometimes the behind-the-scenes moments are the ones that have the biggest impact on fans.

Recently, Miranda McWhorter, Jessi Draper, and Jennifer Affleck all shared videos on social media to share a little about what they are currently going through, and many fans thanked them in the comments for being real, raw, and relatable.

While cameras are currently off as filming of season 5 is on hiatus during Taylor Frankie Paul’s alleged domestic violence situation, fans are getting their fill of the MomTok crew through social media, and it appears that recent content shares more of the story that cameras haven’t fully captured.

In a recently shared video on social media, Miranda opened up about some of the things she’s been struggling with.

In her TikTok video, Miranda opens up about her “18-week care plan” for her health. She shared that she’s been in remission from Hashimoto’s disease for a while but said she no longer is.

“Hashimoto’s isn’t really like the root of the issue right now. There’s a lot of other things in my labs that I’m trying to address,” she said. “All this to say, I am a firm believer in there being a direct correlation between your health and your emotions and your trauma, especially when it comes to autoimmune diseases and autoimmune diseases in women.”

She then shared that, “Of all the people that have autoimmune diseases, women make up 80% of them.” She said that she’s “come so, so far” in this journey, and is “more myself and a more authentic version of myself.”

“But that is because I was forced to sink or swim, essentially,” she continued. “There were a lot of shifts that led to this, addressing where I was at with my religion, obviously with my relationship, and just myself as an individual, seeing those things for what they were and then making very scary decisions based on them. It was hard, very, very hard. And clearly healing is not linear, because I am not healthy right now.”

‘I Cannot Stress Enough The Importance Of Feeling Your Emotions’

Miranda said the reason she’s sharing all this in a video is because it’s so important to feel your emotions fully and “also finding an outlet for them and expressing them fully.”

“Because unsuppressed emotions do not die,” she said. “They are buried alive. And they will, in fact, resurface in uglier ways one way or another down the road.”

She said the “emotional suppression” doesn’t just disappear but rather “relocates.”

Miranda’s video has captured a lot of attention, with more than 2.2 million views in just one day and thousands of comments.

“The most emotionally intelligent woman ever. I look up to you so much Miranda,” one person wrote. Another shared, “I literally adore u, from one autoimmune condition girlie to another – thank you.” One other viewer said, “‘Empathy without boundaries is self-destruction.’ WOW. Thanks Queen. I NEEDED this.”

Jessi also recently took to social media to share how she’s been struggling.

In a recently shared video on Instagram, Jessi opens up about her current divorce and how she’s feeling “lost.”

“I was in two marriages that were emotionally unsafe, and when you’re in that for so long, it was 10 years between the two of them for me, and when you’re in that for so long, you learn habits, you learn routines, you learn defense mechanisms and things that keep you safe,” she said, “And it’s crazy how getting out of that can mess with your head a little bit and make you go a little bit crazy and I feel like I’m going through that right now. It’s kind of like a purging and a detox of the patterns I’ve been used to. I have a lot of patterns that I don’t love.”

She also shared the struggle of going through all this while being “single” and wants to have fun and “enjoy life” but wants to do this in the “right way.” She also said she’s going to a “four-day therapy retreat.”

Jessi explained that while this divorce is “the right option for me right now,” it’s still tough. Many fans who can relate dropped into the comments to share their thoughts.

“I am so incredibly proud of you. What you are going through is not easy and it takes someone strong to be able to endure what you have. I am so excited for this version of YOU. I love you so much,” one person wrote. Another said, “Gurl, you ARE going to make mistakes and that’s okay! As long as you come out of them, learn, and act from your integrity it’s all good. You’re doing great.”

‘Mormon Wives’ Star Jen Affleck Also Shared An Emotional Video

Jen also shared a recent video on TikTok with a “life update.” She began her video by explaining that they are moving “for like the fifth time in a year.”

“In the last two to three years, there’s been, so much has happened, between two babies, reality TV show, ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ moving, identity, faith, life crisis,” she said. “I’m very hopeful for this next chapter of my life.”

She then began tearing up and said she “hates crying on camera,” but “looking back at the last two years, there’s a lot of parts of me that I haven’t really recognized.”

She continued sharing that her hope is “through my vulnerability that I could help heal and also help heal myself.”

Many others had the same thing in mind pointing out that she’s not wearing her wedding ring and suggesting that maybe the two have split.

Some dropped into the comments to share positivity and motivation.

“Wipe your tears, straighten your crown and continue your faith and gods got you queen!” one person wrote. Another added, “I think people forget how young you are. A young mom navigating life. I give you all the grace Jen.”
