Nicole Kidman is speaking out for the first time since her split from Keith Urban, telling fans how she’s navigating life after their nearly two-decade marriage came to an end. While the Oscar-winning actress stopped short of discussing the details of their breakup, she made it clear that her focus remains firmly on family and moving forward. Nicole Kidman’s comments arrive months after news surfaced that she and Urban had quietly separated following 19 years of marriage.

Six months after filing for divorce from Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman is addressing the next chapter of her life. The actress briefly touched on the situation during a recent interview, explaining that her focus now is on gratitude and the people closest to her. “I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward,” Kidman told Variety in an interview published on Wednesday, March 11.

When asked if 2026 would be the year of Nicole Kidman, even though “every year is probably the year of Nicole Kidman,” she responded, “Well, not last year. I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell.”

News broke in September 2025 that Kidman and Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. The “Babygirl” actress officially filed for divorce that same month, marking the end of one of Hollywood’s most closely watched relationships.

Court documents revealed that the former couple agreed to waive any claims to spousal support or child support. They also opted to cover their own legal fees and related expenses, a move that helped streamline the divorce proceedings and limit potential conflict.

The pair also prioritized stability for their two daughters, Sunday and Faith. To avoid disputes surrounding custody, Kidman and Urban reached an agreement that focused heavily on maintaining consistency in the girls’ schooling and daily routines as they adjusted to the changes within their family.

The divorce was finalized several months later, in January, bringing a formal close to their long-running partnership.

As Kidman continues looking ahead, Keith Urban has also been making changes in his professional life. The country singer recently ended his working relationship with his longtime manager, Gary Borman, marking the close of a partnership that lasted decades.

Urban and Borman worked together for twenty-five years, a significant portion of the fifty years Borman’s management company has been operating. The decision comes as Borman prepares to retire and officially shut down the company, bringing their long-running professional relationship to an end.

Elsewhere in the interview, Kidman looked back on one of the most memorable moments of her career, winning the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2003 for her role in “The Hours.” The victory came during a particularly tense time globally, just days after the United States led an invasion of Iraq.

Kidman recalled how the entertainment industry grappled with the moment, noting that many events that year took on a more subdued tone as a result of the world’s circumstances. “Well, it wasn’t just the days before the Oscars, it was throughout that whole period,” she told Variety. “I remember at the BAFTAs that year, we all wore black. It was a dampened-down ceremony, appropriately so. But there was still an incredible embracing of art and continuing the show in line with the legacy of Hollywood.”

While some people questioned whether the ceremony should go on, Kidman explained why honoring the work of those in the industry still felt important. “Look at all the other parts of the Academy. We have to remember that these people have devoted their lives to artistic merit,” she said.

The actress continued, “They get rewarded that night. Them getting up onstage to be acknowledged by their peers is important for us as a community. They’re our crews, our artists, our costumers, editors, makeup, sound, special effects, stunts. We get the glitzy star moments, but they’re the reason we’re there. When you’ve worked in this industry so long, you want to honor them.”

For Kidman, the past may hold unforgettable milestones, but her focus now seems firmly set on family and moving forward.
