Old habits die hard, and Pete Davidson is showing hard proof!
The popular actor got inked again after spending years and a hefty sum trying to get rid of his previous tattoos. He has been open about the removal process, documenting the painful process of letting the skin art go.
While Pete Davidson has previously expressed his desire to remove all the ink from his skin, he has been vocal about keeping certain tattoos with sentimental value. The actor struggled with other vices, including using hard substances, which he recently put behind him thanks to his mother.
Pete Davidson Gets Fresh Ink In Honor Of His Daughter

Davidson flashed his new face tattoo after he paid thousands of dollars to get rid of his numerous body tattoos over the past few years. The actor’s new ink, strategically placed by his ear close to his side burns, was seen as he stepped out in Las Vegas. The name Scottie was written in black, all capital letters, and displayed vertically.
The tattoo is a tribute to his daughter, Scottie, who is named after his firefighter father, Scott Matthew Davidson. Scott also went by Scottie as a nickname till his death in 9/11. He welcomed his daughter, Scottie, in December 2025 with his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt.
The ink caught eyes while he was on stage in Las Vegas, but had also been spotted when he picked out some baby pink crocs with a Jibbitz of his face on them as he joined for a Wonderfully Unordinary evening in New York. Davidson has spent six years and about $200,000 on the tattoo removal process. According to an insider, “He just woke up one day and wanted them gone,” adding that the comedian just wanted a fresh start.
The Actor Revealed The Reason Behind His Tattoo Removal

The Daily Mail reports that Davidson previously spoke about the pains of getting the ink off his skin, noting how excruciating the process has been. He described it as “pretty terrible,” warning listeners to think twice before ever getting a tattoo. “So if anybody out there is watching and thinking about getting a tattoo, make sure you really want to get it,” he said.
The comedian shared that his desire to get rid of all his tattoos came as he began his sobriety journey. He wanted a full transformation, including in his appearance. In his words, “I got sober, and I saw myself in the mirror, and I was like, ‘Nah. Who that?’ I was like, ‘I got to change it up a little bit.’” His tattoo removal process began in 2020.
In 2021, the actor revealed that he was “burning off” his tattoos to pave the way in his career. At that time, he stated that he did not want to have to spend three hours in makeup daily to have them covered up for some of his roles. Davidson stressed that removing the tattoos was more painful than getting them because the laser rays used to remove the ink burn the skin in the process.
The Comedian Previously Shared His End Goal For The Removal Process

Last year, Davidson disclosed what he hopes to achieve by the end of 2025 amid his ongoing tattoo removal process. He told PEOPLE, “My goal is to be able to wear a T-shirt and not see anything there by the end of this year.” “The Rookie” star shared that he had the tats on his neck and hands removed first because he wanted to go in order of what was most visible.
The TV personality had around 200 tats, including some of the body art dedicated to his mom, dad, former girlfriends, and more silly, lighthearted designs. He, however, noted that his decision to have his inks taken off does not translate to a dislike for tattoos, as he still thinks they are cool and plans to keep some of them.
Davidson acknowledged that getting rid of the tattoos is a long process, and factoring in his busy schedule, he knows it will take a while before he is ink-free, saying, “It takes years to get rid of a tattoo… It’s going to be, like, until I’m 40 when I’m a clean slate.”
The Father Of One Also Got Tattoos In Honor Of His Parents

Many have noticed that the actor’s hands are almost completely clean as he has reportedly lasered off about 200 individual designs. As earlier stated, Davidson will be keeping some of the body art, including one dedicated to his mom, Amy Waters Davidson.
E! News reported that the actor shared in a previous interview that he got a tattoo for his mom after she asked, “How come you’ve never gotten a Mom tattoo?” After hearing the question, Davidson was like, “Say no more and he went ahead to get one that says “MOMTATTOO,” which he is not letting go of.
The television personality also disclosed that in honor of his father, who passed away in th 9/11 attacks, he got his dad’s ID number inked on his skin, which he has no plans of lasering off. In addition to these sentimental pieces, the 32-year-old noted that he plans to keep his various “Sopranos” inspired tats.
Pete Davidson’s Family Inspired Him To Change His Ways

The actor noted that he decided to get serious with rehab after he realized he was wasting money by returning to his bad habits over time. He explained that during the rehabilitation process, they had a family week when patients could speak to their loved ones in therapy sessions. During that time, he had the chance to speak with his mom, Amy, who had grown weary of his bad habits and constant drug use.
Davidson shared that he hopped on a Zoom call with his mom, who simply told him, “Peter, ‘It’s very hard to be your mom because I wake up every morning with the fear that I’ll turn on the news and see that my son has died.’” The actor admitted that he put up a defensive front initially, but when she said “Enough,” he became broken, and that was the turning point moment that got him sober.
The Blast reports that while Amy had an early influence, Scottie’s birth holds a continuous reminder. He has expressed how grateful he is to have a child while he is sober and in a healthier place. The “King of Staten Island” star also noted that his mindset about having a family was initially out of mere necessity, but with time, he has realized that building healthy relationships before welcoming a child is key.
