“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Crystal Kung-Minkoff has really come into her own since leaving the show. Not only is she showing more of her personality on her podcast, but she’s also been more open about her time on the show. However, the former “RHOBH” star recently became vulnerable when she opened up about recently experiencing high blood pressure and her conversation with a doctor.

Minkoff took to her “Humble Brag” podcast, which she cohosts with “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey, on April 27 to open up about her recent health complication. Namely, that she’d gone to the doctor after experiencing high blood pressure for quite some time.

The 43-year-old said, “I was late to come here because I was at my doctor’s. My blood pressure was really high this week. We talked about it a few weeks ago because now it’s conscious.” She then shared that, upon checking, her blood pressure was 160 over 110, which is much higher than normal.

Minkoff continued, saying she wondered if she was “in the realm of a stroke,” noting that “They call it the silent killer.” When describing her symptoms, the “RHOBH” alum stated that she experienced “a constant pressure” on her chest.

Minkoff continued discussing her health complications and visit to the doctor. According to her, “We did my blood pressure when I got there. He’s like, ‘Your heart rate is very low.’ It’s very low. He’s like, ‘That pressure is your heart working too hard.’ It’s real. So we did my EKG, and he said my heart was slightly enlarged.”

The mom of two added, “We doubled up my medication. He’s like, ’80 percent is definitely hereditary, but the 20 percent are all the little adjustments that I can make.'”

From there, she shared that her doctor stated that she needs to exercise more. Minkoff said, “He said, ‘You don’t exercise enough.’ For women — particularly because I was talking about weights — I’m less interested in weights for men. Women must do weights because we lose muscle very quickly as we get older.”

She then discussed the workout plan her doctor suggested. According to the “RHOBH” alum, “He wants me to do five days or five hours of exercising a week. He said, ‘You’re 43. Hiking is not enough for you to make your heart work.'”

Minkoff continued, “He’s like, ‘You need to get to a point where it becomes a mental thing for you.’ I need to feel like I should exercise, or else I’m not feeling mentally healthy.”

This Isn’t The First Time Crystal Has Discussed Her Health

Minkoff appeared on “RHOBH” for three seasons before her exit. During her final season on the show, she experienced a medical emergency while on a cast trip to Spain. Per US Weekly, the group was in a vehicle when she said to them, “I’m getting really sick, you guys. You guys, this is rough for me right now.”

After a while, they stopped the vehicle so that Minkoff could try to feel better after becoming “carsick.” Upon returning to the car, she said, “Oh, my God, Garcelle, look at my veins, they’re popping out,” as she held up her arms.

In a confessional, she said, “My family history has a history of high blood pressure [and] hypertension, and it’s something that I know that I’ve struggled with, but I didn’t realize it could get to this point. It was so scary. … I’ve never been faced with my mortality.”

Minkoff joined “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for the show’s 11th season in 2021. Though she never became a fan favorite, there was a sense of disappointment when she announced in 2024 that she would not be returning to the series.

Per Deadline, she said in an Instagram video, “I just wanted to share the news that I will not be coming back to film Season 14 of ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.’ It’s very bittersweet. Never did I think I would’ve been asked to do this show in a million years — let alone film it for three seasons.”

She then said, “Every single year I was asked back, it was a blessing. It was an honor. Being the first Asian American on ‘Beverly Hills’ was a lot of weight on my shoulders that I have since just have really understood the magnitude of what that means for people.”
