One year after the heartbreaking loss of Michelle Trachtenberg, Taylor Momsen found herself overwhelmed by grief in the most unexpected way.

The musician and former "Gossip Girl" star shared an emotional tribute from her hotel room in Brazil, reflecting on friendship, memory, and the strange way the body remembers dates the heart wishes it could forget.

Currently touring with her band, The Pretty Reckless, Momsen marked the anniversary on Feb. 26 with a moving post on Instagram and Facebook.

Alongside childhood photos of Trachtenberg and behind-the-scenes snapshots from their "Gossip Girl" days, she shared a raw confession about how the day unfolded.

“It’s weird how the body clock remembers,” Momsen wrote. “Last night I was sitting in my hotel room alone in São Paulo, I didn’t know what the date was (they all blend together on tour) and I was hit with an overwhelming sadness over Michelle.”

The realization struck the following morning.

Momsen wrote, “Then I wake up and realize it’s been a year without her. Life is hard. I wish…I miss…I wish…”

The post quickly resonated with fans and fellow actors who remembered Trachtenberg’s warmth both on and off screen.

Support poured in across social media. One fan wrote, “She’s missed. She was so fun to watch on screen and seemed to be very nice to her fans.”

Another added, “I’m so sorry. Sending you my support in this moment of remembrance.”

A third follower shared a more personal memory, writing, “I miss her too. She would like my comments on her posts and sometimes she would respond to them. I wish she was still here with us but I know her soul and spirit will always be with us.”

Sarah Michelle Gellar also showed her love, commenting simply, “Love you friend,” beneath Momsen’s tribute.

Trachtenberg died last year at age 39 due to complications of diabetes mellitus, according to the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

While Momsen portrayed Jenny Humphrey on "Gossip Girl" from 2007 to 2010, Trachtenberg brought chaos and charisma to the Upper East Side as Georgina Sparks from 2008 to 2012.

Their time on the hit series helped forge a bond that extended beyond the set. After Trachtenberg’s passing last year, Momsen described her friend as “smart and sassy, bold and sensitive, funny as f-ck and filled with fire.”

In that earlier tribute, she reflected on the depth of their connection.

“I am so grateful to have had a friend like you in my life for so long. You were a true friend to me which is a rarity in this world and I can’t believe I won’t hear your voice again,” Momsen wrote. “I grieve with all her fans around the world, and my heart is with her family and loved ones.”

Beyond the "Gossip Girl" family, Trachtenberg’s "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" costar Sarah Michelle Gellar also marked the anniversary with a deeply personal message.

Gellar admitted she was “not sure how it’s been a year” since losing her friend of more than three decades.

“I’m one of the lucky ones who has over 30 years of memories with you. From our first day on set together, to less than a year later, when you were already taller than me,” Gellar wrote. “But I first worked with [you] on All My Children. I watched you become a star with Harriet. You were great to my kids. Countless kids bdays you attended, even though I’m sure you had somewhere cooler to be.”

She closed her tribute with words that captured how so many remember Trachtenberg, writing, “But most of all, when I think of you, that smile that took up your entire face and brought so much joy to others is what comes to mind. You may not have been with us long enough, but we will make sure everyone remembers.”

Following Trachtenberg's death last year, Gellar honored her in a deeply personal way.

She shared several screenshots of the two of them together on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," along with red carpet photos and behind-the-scenes moments with fellow cast members.

In the caption, Gellar adapted an emotional line from the show’s fifth season, replacing Dawn’s name with Michelle.

She wrote, “Michelle, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. I will be brave. I will live… for you.”
