The actor was among the high-profile nominees for Best Actor but ultimately lost the award to Michael B. Jordan. According to reports, Chalamet believes the negative attention surrounding his relationship with Jenner may have hurt his chances, particularly among older voters.

Despite the setback, the couple presented a united front at an after-party following the ceremony. However, behind the scenes, Timothée Chalamet is said to be taking the loss “very personally.”

However, the award ultimately went to Michael B. Jordan for his performance in Sinners. Now, in the wake of the shocking loss, sources are claiming that it has placed a serious strain on Chalamet and Jenner’s three-year relationship.

According to an insider who spoke with Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop, Chalamet privately blamed the attention surrounding Jenner’s Kardashian family as the reason why he missed out on the award.

“Timothée thinks the Kylie relationship hurt his image with older voters,” said the source. “He believes the Kardashian circus cost him the Oscar.”

Still on Chalamet’s alleged reaction to losing the award, another source claimed the actor took the “loss very personally.”

The narrative previously gained traction after lip reader Nicola Hickling told the Daily Mail that Chalamet had a tense exchange with his girlfriend shortly after the loss, during which he appeared to say, “I hate this.”

Jenner, meanwhile, seemingly tried to comfort him, reportedly responding, “We’re all right, OK?” to which Chalamet simply replied, “Yeah.”

Now, with him allegedly blaming her and her family for the loss, the mega-entrepreneur is said to be “furious” with Chalamet.

“She’s telling friends the loss had nothing to do with her,” an insider said of Jenner.

Regardless, one source also claimed that Chalamet’s ego is “bruised,” and he is on the prowl right now “for someone to blame.”

Despite the loss and the tension it appears to have created in Chalamet and Jenner’s relationship, the two managed to keep it from showing when they attended an after-party that same night.

They arrived dressed to the tee, with Jenner opting for a black, body-hugging gown from Alexander McQueen that bared her cleavage and back. Meanwhile, Chalamet chose a white suit from Givenchy, paired with matching trousers.

Right from the red carpet, the couple were seen packing on the PDA and appeared every bit the perfect pair.

In images that have since gone viral, the duo was spotted holding hands while posing for photos at the star-studded event.

Chalamet was also seen taking things up a notch by placing his hands on Jenner’s hips, and at one point, he leaned in to give her a quick kiss before stepping aside to let her pose for solo photos.

Meanwhile, another alternate theory for Chalamet’s loss to Jordan has been linked to his personality.

According to some reports, voters didn’t connect with him, with only one out of seven Academy voters who were surveyed saying they voted in his favor.
