The star-studded event took place at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3, where hundreds of guests had to hand over their phones at a security check before entering. Despite this strict policy, Sophie Charles, the wife of Hollywood actor Josh Charles, shared a video in which she claimed she smuggled a phone inside.

“Snuck a phone into MSG. The Gold Flip Phone Pendant with diamond screen,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. 

Fans immediately flooded the comments, calling her rude and privileged for ignoring the couple’s wishes.

“Disrespectful!” one fan wrote, while another added, “So rude. She asked for no phones. I assumed that would be respected,” another fan wrote. 

However, the internet outrage turned out to be a big misunderstanding once people realized the post was just a fun joke to promote her jewelry line. The video showed that the item was just a tiny, non-working gold charm shaped like a flip phone, meaning the couple’s privacy was never actually broken, per Entertainment Weekly. 

One fan who got the joke wrote, “This is very iconic of haha.” Another added, “Must’ve been great fun! Love the flip phone! You guys look stunning.”

Sophie’s playful jewelry stunt took place during the extravagant event at which the singer and the football player officially tied the knot in front of their closest friends and family.

The Blast confirmed that the ceremony was officiated by comedian Adam Sandler, a close friend of both the bride and the groom. Instead of having a large group of bridesmaids and groomsmen, Taylor chose her younger brother, Austin Swift, to be her man of honor. 

Meanwhile, Travis picked his famous football brother, Jason Kelce, to stand by his side as his best man, bringing the two families together.
