Hugh Jackman‘s romance with girlfriend Sutton Foster appears to be facing friction because of his ongoing connection with Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively.

The Broadway couple, who have been going steady since they went public with their relationship in 2025, are said to be at odds over Jackman’s refusal to stay away from Reynolds amid fallout from Lively’s “It Ends With Us” drama with her former co-star, Justin Baldoni.

Speaking to the outlet, a source said, “Sutton and Blake don’t get on, and combined with the fact that Blake’s recent legal issues have affected Ryan’s career, Sutton’s right to be fearful of Hugh hanging out with Ryan.”

Foster was there while the “Wolverine” actor reportedly supported Reynolds and his wife during Lively’s legal battle against Baldoni, the “It Ends With Us” director, but now she believes further association would be a problem.

The tension between both couples is nothing new. Another source told the Australian magazine in 2025 that Foster and Lively have “no real affinity”; they don’t have much of a relationship as “they’ve never had a deep and meaningful friendship.”

Even going on double dates and their partners being such good friends has not brought them any closer, and the drama surrounding Lively and, by extension, Reynolds has just given her an extra reason to cut ties with the couple.

In a 2024 publication by People Magazine, Jackman spoke about the bond between the two, asserting that he could tell Reynolds “anything.”

Reynolds also spoke highly of their friendship and compared it to a marital commitment.

“I think the secret sauce to a long-lasting Hollywood friendship is not too dissimilar to having a partner or a marriage,” he said, adding that he wants Jackman to win “all the time,” the same way he does for Lively.

The actors recently traveled to Spain for the celebrity SailGP boat race, showcasing their bond that has endured for almost 20 years.

The Legal Dispute That Threatens To End A Friendship

The main issue causing Foster to want to rethink her and Jackman’s association with Reynolds and Lively is the legal battle the “Gossip Girl” actress found herself involved in.

Lively sued Baldoni in late 2024 for allegations of “sexual harassment and workplace safety concerns,” which he denied.

The “Jane the Virgin” star subsequently filed a suit against Lively for pushing a “false and damaging narrative” that he claimed was full of “lies and doctored ‘evidence’.”

He also sued Reynolds for describing him as a “sexual predator” to his agent, who he allegedly told to drop Baldoni as a client.

A judge, however, dismissed Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit and later did the same with many of the claims made in Lively’s lawsuit, including the serious allegations of sexual harassment.
