Joe Jonas recently found himself facing a moment that had him shaken. The actor’s thoughts quickly turned to two people who matter most to him: his children. 

The Disney alum shares his children with ex-wife Sophie Turner. They were married in 2019 and welcomed their first daughter, Willa Jonas, the next year. They welcomed their second daughter, Delphine Jonas, in 2022, before going their separate ways two years later. 

Unlike the marriage, however, that was not the end of their parenting journey, and they have given some insight into what that now looks like. 

Joe Jonas Narrates His Near-Death Experience 

While appearing on an episode of “The Morgan Stewart Show,” Joe narrated a terrifying ordeal he had while on vacation in Italy. 

The “This Is Me” singer was attempting to get off a boat and onto a smaller tender boat when he fell between the two vessels and into the rocky water. “But as I take a step, a wave came in, and it pushed the boat far out from the yacht,” he narrated. 

The musician admitted it sounded like a bougie problem, falling off a boat while on vacation, but the moment was terrifying for him. 

Stewart witnessed the entire thing unfold, and she could not help but agree with the pop star that it was a chilling moment. “I was like, ‘Vacation’s over. Vacation’s over,’” she explained. “It’s going to hit him in the head, and we’re going to lose a Jonas Brother.” 

While trying to rescue the “Honey Blonde” singer from the water, the first mate also fell in. “We’re between these boats,” he recalled. “We’re fully dressed, my phone’s in my pocket, everything. And I come up, I’m so out of it. I’m just like, ‘What the f-ck just happened?’” 

Joe quickly realized he needed to get out of the water, and he attempted to swim over to the tender boat and get in, but he must have hit his shin because he fell back in again. He was successful on the second attempt, however, rolling onto the boat soaking wet. 

“In those moments, your adrenaline’s going so fast,” he said 

Joe Jonas Called His Daughters After His Near-Death Experience 

The situation gave Joe a chance to reflect on what was truly important to him, and his girls, Willa and Delphine, quickly came to mind. 

Later at dinner, the full impact of the situation hit the Teen Choice Awards winner despite his reassurance to everyone that he was fine.

“I finally came down from that anxiousness, and I looked at [Tatiana Gabriela],” Joe’s girlfriend. “I was like, ‘That sh-t was really scary. That really spooked me for a while. It was really intense.” 

His first thought was that he needed to speak to his daughters right away, saying, “I just need to call them. I need to see them,” he had said, “I need to see their faces.” 

Ultimately, he was grateful that he had the best outcome of a bad situation, thinking about how life moves so fast.

Joe Jonas Praised His Co-Parenting Relationship With Sophie Turner 

The instinct to reach out to his kids paralleled the close bond the “Cake By The Ocean” singer has continued to prioritize with them after his split from Turner. 

Despite a public split and an initially rocky custody battle, Turner and Joe finally found a rhythm that worked for them, which the “Camp Rock” actor described last year as “beautiful.”

He also disclosed how grateful he was for the balance they had found. 

“Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true,” Joe gushed about the “Game of Thrones” actress, per The Blast.  “As young girls, looking up to great women is what I want for them.” 

Sophie Turner Does Not Want Her Daughters To Follow In Her Acting Footsteps 

While the couple’s daughters no doubt look up to the famous actress, Turner doesn’t necessarily want them to be like her.

Being a child star herself, the “DarkPhoenix” actress got emotional talking about the cast of the remake of “Harry Potter.

She lamented that she just wanted to give them a hug and tell them everything would be okay while dropping some big sister advice: they should stay away from social media and keep their family close.

When asked what she would do if her own daughters decided to follow in her footsteps, Turner declared, as reported by The Blast, “Oh God, they’re not acting! Not until they’re at least 25!” 

Joe Jonas Had To Go To Therapy After Disappointing First Solo Album

Away from co-parenting with Turner, the former Disney Channel star has experienced the highs and lows of an entertainment career firsthand. 

Joe’s first solo album, “Fastlife,” did not perform as well as other joint Jonas Brothers projects. The album peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200, while its lead single, “See No More,” reached No. 92 on the Billboard Hot 100.

After the painful flop, Joe started having panic attacks, causing a doctor to suggest therapy, which he said ultimately changed his life.

The Jonas Brothers member realized then that he tied the album’s success to his own self-worth, believing that proving himself alone would show he mattered, as reported on The Blast.
