“I just feel like getting in the right mental headspace has been the biggest thing for me with recovering from my eating disorder and just trying to have a better relationship with my body and food in general,” Taylor told PEOPLE ahead of New York City’s Fashion Week. “I think being in the best mental headspace when you’re going into an environment like modeling where your body is out there, and people are open to making criticism of it, just making sure that you’re mentally good has been my top priority coming into this fashion week.”

For those unfamiliar, Taylor opened up about her struggle during season 4 of the hit Hulu reality show. She shared even more in a vulnerable Instagram post in March 2026. “For the past two years, I’ve been struggling silently with an eating disorder I believed I had left behind in high school,” she said candidly.

“Far before I touched [GLP-1 medications] I’ve had my struggles. It’s been lonely and exhausting, fighting a battle in my own brain while trying to show up like everything is okay and receive comments daily on my body. Recovery has been messy and far from linear. Some days feel strong, and others feel really heavy,” she continued.

Layla Taylor Says She’s ‘Still In Treatment’

Elsewhere in her post, Taylor revealed that she was “still in treatment” but no longer taking medication. She shared bravely that she’s also “still learning how to choose self-love over self-criticism.”

She added, “Even this video seeing my body side-by-side is triggering; But I’m still fighting — not just for me, but because my boys deserve a healthy, present mom. So grateful for those in my life that helped me through that low time.”

During season 4 of “SLOMW,” Taylor was seen navigating feelings of rejection after getting denied by a modeling agency. In her confessional, the reality star and mother of two said the blow impacted her confidence and reminded her of “never feeling like I’m enough.”

In addition to prioritizing her mental health, the reality star said she’s “consistently” going to therapy to help her stay on the right path.

“Eating disorders are something that people will struggle with for the rest of their lives, but knowing how to create safe places around you where you can have that dialogue, but then they help you say, ‘Hey, those thoughts are normal, but …’ And then help you regroup and get back to a better place,” she noted.

Taylor Revealed She Was Part Of The LGBTQ+ Community

In the summer of 2026, Taylor made another candid confession when she told Jay Shetty that she was “gay and bi.” Elsewhere, during her appearance on the “On Purpose” podcast, Taylor said she decided to come out after finally gaining the courage to speak about her true feelings, per The Blast.

So, what prompted Taylor to finally come out? According to her, it was her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, who filmed season 4 of “SLOMW” alongside her.

“Honestly, I went through a breakup at the beginning of this year, and I feel like for just a long period of my life, I was constantly living my life for other people,” she said. “Whether that was being a mom or I was in a marriage at one point, I was married. And I just feel like I was always fulfilling other people around me. And it honestly just caused me to never really focus on myself and never be able to really just sit alone with who I am as a person.”
