The news about Seacrest’s absence at the wedding comes amid reports about which A-listers actually made it inside the venue and which were stuck watching from the outside.

Seacrest has been a staple in Hollywood and the entertainment industry for decades, so it only makes sense that the “American Idol” host would be among those invited to celebrate Swift and Kelce. However, the 51-year-old recently told his “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” listeners that he had to revise his RSVP a few days before the event for a specific reason.

“I RSVP’d to go, and then Disney hired me to do the Fourth of July 250 special on the 3rd and the 4th, so I had to cancel,” Seacrest said, adding that he was really disappointed he couldn’t make both events work. And to make matters worse, the “Wheel of Fortune” host said he was “actually really excited to go” before saying that choosing between the two was a difficult decision.

Seacrest told his listeners and co-hosts that he tried his hardest to make both events work, revealing there was simply no time to fit them into his schedule. Despite that, the TV personality said he was “thrilled” to have been one of the lucky stars on the invite list.

Seacrest went on to say that his backing out of the wedding was soul-crushing for him because he had originally RSVP’d in person when he ran into Swift and Kelce while out to eat. “I’m like, ‘I cannot wait. I’m so excited.’ I met Travis for the first time, actually. He was sitting in the booth next to me,” Seacrest said.

And for those who might question why Seacrest couldn’t have turned down the job with Disney, the award-winning personality said that his hands were tied. “It’s part of my job at Disney to do these things,” he added.

In a previous interview with Seacrest, the “Lover” singer opened up about her excitement for the wedding, revealing that she had to stop herself from sharing too much because she would spill all of the beans if she could. Then she thanked the radio host not only for supporting her over the years but also for eagerly celebrating this new chapter of her life. “Thank you for being excited for us because I’m excited for us too,” she said.

Swift, 36, also discussed with Seacrest the importance of striking a balance between being open with the public about her relationship and keeping some things private. “I gotta figure out like ways to make sure that I do have things that are just between us, and thankfully, we do have a lot of those things, and [our engagement] in particular is one that’s always just going to be ours,” she said.

Elite athletes were also in the building, including Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles, and active players, such as George Kittle, Cooper Kupp, Baker Mayfield, and Kareem Hunt.
