She captioned the image, “Good times and good friends.” After news broke that Panettiere had died at 36, the photograph took on a heartbreaking significance as friends began returning to the post to say goodbye. 

Slavin later reposted the image to his Instagram Stories, writing, “Peace be with you, H,” alongside an animated red heart. 

The post quickly became flooded with condolences from fans and people who had worked with Panettiere throughout her career.

Lenz added, “I don’t understand how this is real. Everything seemed to be turning around. She was coming BACK to life, wasn’t she?” 

She also referenced Hayden’s daughter, writing, “It’s too young and there’s still so much more life. And her daughter…. Hayden, you are surround [sic] by love.” 

Lenz ended by reflecting on the many glimpses of Hayden she had known over 27 years and saying she was praying for her to know peace.

Hayden tragically passed away on August 16, 2026, at the age of 36. Her father, Skip Panettiere, shared a statement through the actress’ representative, describing the loss as unimaginable for the family. 

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” he said per The Blast, adding, “She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.” 

Skip also asked for privacy “as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.” Meanwhile, Hayden’s cause of death remains undisclosed. 

Law enforcement sources confirmed that police had responded to an incident involving the actress, while her publicist said, “There’s an investigation ongoing. We should know more tomorrow.”
