Julie and Todd Chrisley are getting honest about how their bond has transformed following their release from prison. 

The pair shared insights into their updated family dynamic during a recent broadcast appearance hosted by their daughter, noting that there’s a significant difference in how they relate to each other.

The pair, who originally wed in 1996, share three adult children: Chase, Grayson, and Savannah, along with their adopted teenage daughter, Chloe.

Todd & Julie Chrisley Speak On Finding Humor In Their Decades-Long Bond

Todd and Julie candidly discussed how their long-standing union has evolved since they reunited following their time away. Appearing on a recent episode of their daughter’s podcast, “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley,” Todd revealed that their day-to-day interactions have actually become significantly more lighthearted. 

He explained that a greater sense of comedy has entered their connection, noting that he now finally views their partnership as an individual, standalone bond between just the two of them.

‘I think [our relationship] is funnier,” Todd said. 

This shifting perspective follows a turbulent chapter for the former television personalities, who were convicted of financial fraud and tax evasion charges in 2022.

While they continuously maintained their innocence, they were both sentenced to prison before receiving executive clemency from President Donald Trump that brought their sentences to an abrupt conclusion last year. 

Julie reflected on the immense relief of their current situation, explaining that for a decade leading up to their departure, the ongoing legal pressure felt incredibly heavy on a daily basis. However, now, she notes that a real sense of ease has returned to their lives. 

“I think there’s just a lightness [now],” Julie said. Both partners expressed a strong commitment to continually strengthening their connection, with Julie emphasizing that she never wants to stop putting effort into their bond, her role as a parent, or her duties as a grandmother.

The Couple Blamed Their Former Legal Representative For Their Time In Prison

While the couple is focused on moving forward personally, their past legal battles continue to follow them.

The Blast reported that Todd and Julie filed a massive federal lawsuit against their former defense attorney, Chris Anulewicz, and his previous law firm, Balch & Bingham. The complaint seeks more than $25 million in damages for alleged legal malpractice and breach of contract. 

The couple claimed that their previous 19-year combined prison sentence could have been completely avoided if their legal team had provided competent representation. They also argued that the manner in which the defense team managed the prosecution’s evidence during the trial was unlawful.

While Todd and Julie are actively engaged in fierce legal battles behind the scenes, the couple also attempted to make a grand return to the spotlight.

Earlier this year, they made their first joint television appearance since their prison release, but the project failed to win over a significant portion of the viewing public. 

The Blast reported that the former reality stars shocked audiences when they were revealed as the contestants hidden inside a giant croissant costume on “The Masked Singer.”

Although the immediate studio audience greeted the pair with enthusiasm, the overall reception on social media was overwhelmingly negative. Viewers swarmed the comment sections to voice their disapproval, with many expressing frustration that individuals who received a presidential pardon were being given a mainstream platform.

While Todd and Julie’s return to public platforms sparked debates online, the couple didn’t let the heavy backlash distract them from their roles at home. 

A few months ago, they vigorously defended their approach to raising their youngest daughter, Chloe, emphasizing that their core values have kept the family grounded.

The pair pushed back against outside skepticism by speaking candidly about the parenting techniques they use to guide their 13-year-old daughter, Todd’s grandchild, whom they adopted shortly before going to prison. 

The Blast reported that Todd supported this assertion by pointing directly to the glowing reports they received from school administrators regarding the teenager’s behavior. He stressed that these consistent descriptions of her kindness and consideration provide validation that their structured parenting choices have produced a well-adjusted, empathetic young woman.

Savannah Chrisley Opened Up About Her Mystery Partner

As one Chrisley daughter is being praised for her upbringing, the other, Savannah, recently spoke openly about her relationship dynamics. 

According to The Blast, Savannah recently confirmed that she is involved in an age-gap relationship. However, she didn’t reveal the identity of her partner. 

The 28-year-old shared that her mystery partner is quite a bit older than her, though still younger than her 57-year-old father, Todd. While she admitted that her father is not entirely comfortable with the notable age gap, she revealed that he has ultimately grown fond of her new boyfriend.
