Taylor, 25, spoke with Shetty about a range of topics, including her time on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and her sexual identity. During the conversation, Taylor revealed candidly that’s she’s “gay and … bi,” adding that she dates men and women.

According to Taylor, she had known she was interested in women since childhood; however, she didn’t believe it was “something that I honestly didn’t know how to formally [admit]” until later in her life. Taylor went on to say that she’s learned over the years that living life authentically is the best way to go. “I’ll be d-mned if I’m not able to be fully who I am,” she said.

Taylor went on to say that she’s “very proud” to be bisexual and to “be out,” adding that she hopes she can inspire others to open up and tell their truth.

Throughout the first four seasons of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” Taylor discussed her relationships with men with her co-stars. She even dated boyfriends Cameron Jolly and Mason McWhorter throughout seasons two and four. However, she split from McWhorter in February 2026, and that prompted her to explore a different side of herself.

“Honestly, I went through a breakup at the beginning of this year, and I feel like for just a long period of my life, I was constantly living my life for other people,” she told Shetty. “Whether that was being a mom or I was in a marriage at one point, I was married. And I just feel like I was always fulfilling other people around me. And it honestly just caused me to never really focus on myself and never be able to really just sit alone with who I am as a person… And I think honestly that breakup was like a blessing in disguise because I feel like now I’ve been fully able to just focus on Layla. And yeah, just focus on who I truly am.”

While Taylor wasn’t sure what to make of her feelings when she was younger, the reality star said there are core memories she can pinpoint that got her mind wondering.

“I would be watching shows like Pretty Little Liars, and I would watch Shay Mitchell [who played Emily Fields] kissing a girl. Was like, ‘Wait, why is that hot?’” she recalled. “But I didn’t know what those feelings were because I didn’t have queer representation around me. [No one] I could look at it and be like, ‘OK, this is normal.'”

Taylor said the moment they met felt more like a “first kiss,” noting that their date was intentional and not a “drunk moment.”

“Like this was me intentionally going into a moment knowing how I felt about women,” she said.

Taylor told Shetty that she hasn’t opened up to many people about her bisexuality, but that doesn’t mean she’s hiding it. According to her, the “On Purpose” podcast may be the first time those in her inner circle hear about it.

Speaking of her inner circle, Taylor is gearing up for the return of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” on Hulu, telling Shetty that things between the cast of friends have changed over the last few months.

“I know that there’s some friendships that are in different places than they have been in the past,” she said. “But I think right now we’ve just been kind of a little separate since just going on that pause from filming and everything like that. So I just haven’t seen any of them in person.”
