Julia Stiles is proving that even Hollywood stars have their down moments in a new, raw moment.

The Hollywood star’s casting on the competitive show “Dancing With The Stars” initially drew skepticism. Show watchers questioned if she had an unfair advantage, especially considering her memorable performance as Sara Johnson on “Save the Last Dance.” 

Since then, she has continued to gain backing from the most unexpected places, including Juilliard and Andy Cohen. Now, Stiles is receiving more praise for her very relatable reaction. 

Julia Stiles Had A Major ‘Cry Fest’ After Disappointing Feedback From DWTS Judges 

On Tuesday night’s show of “Dancing With The Stars,” Stiles and professional partner Ezra Sosa performed a tango to Teddy Swims “The Door.”

The performance earned a score of 16 out of 30 and some tough feedback from judges Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. 

The 45-year-old was asked how she was feeling backstage after the show, to which she replied: “To be completely honest, I’m not feeling great. The crazy thing about this show — which I knew going into it — is that you can have great run-throughs, you can have great rehearsals, but really, all that matters is what ends up on television.”

The Hollywood star is, however, looking for the silver lining: her supportive partner, Sosa.

“I do have the most fantastic partner because I had a big old cry fest in my trailer,” she said to E! News. “And he was right there with me, so patiently and so sympathetically.”

Sosa echoed her sentiments, adding that he also had a great partner in Stiles. He also had some encouraging words for Stiles: “And you were so good tonight. You were incredible.”

Rather than seeing her “cry fest” as a sign of weakness, fans applauded her honesty. 

One fan reflected on the nostalgia of seeing Stiles dance again: “This woman is bearing her soul and living her dream being on the show and trying to live up to the expectations from what we all saw her do in her dance movies. She is a true warrior and a true, true champion, and let’s get her to the end because WE BELIEVE IN HER!!! @missjuliastiles @ezra.sosa.”  

For another viewer, it was Stiles’ openness that got to them: “I love the realness! That’s another part of the show that I think gets overlooked. Stars are regular people too. So it’s layers, and I’m proud of her allowing this for herself and others!” 

While some focused on Stiles, others turned their attention to the judges, arguing that the performance deserved a better review. “The judges suck. I don’t even care. They score inconsistently, and their feedback is inconsistent.” 

The feeling was shared by other viewers, who said, “You did amazing!!! Scores were off!!” And  “I think the judges scored this one too low.” One fan declared, “I feel like she puts a lot of pressure on herself, but I thought she did great!”

Stiles was also praised for the way she took the criticism: “Such a great role model for taking feedback, even if it feels off the mark, and powering through. Such a good example for us all!”

Julia Stiles Received An Apology From Juilliard School Following DWTS Debut 

Beyond online comments, Stiles seems to be gaining support from another unexpected source, Juilliard School. 

According to The Blast, the school had a hilarious change of heart after they were called out for comments stating that Stiles did not, in fact, attend their institution. 

They apologized by sending Stiles and Sosa alumni gear, with a note that said, “Dear Julia, with our apologies for the clerical error, your alumni file was found under the name Sara Johnson,” a nod to her iconic character who attended Juilliard.

They also wished her well on the show, making it clear they meant no shade with their initial comment. The actresses gushed over how cute the gesture was, then confirmed she did not attend the school. 

Andy Cohen Took Back His Comments On Julia Stiles Dancing Skills 

Juilliard was not the only one to eat their words, as the Bravo Boss Andy Cohen also offered a public apology to Stiles after her dazzling “Dancing With The Stars Debut.” 

Last year, Cohen had said, “Can we all just agree that Julia Stiles is not the greatest dancer on the planet?” Stiles later admitted the statement motivated her to come on the show so she could really stick it to the TV host. 

Following her debut, where she earned a score of 18 out of 30, Cohen made himself the “Jackhole Of The Day” on his show before publicly apologizing to her, adding that she did amazing, per The Blast.

Julia Stiles Set The Record Straight On Her Dance Abilities 

Despite the positive comments about her dance performance, the actress took to social media to set the record straight about the true extent of her dance abilities. 

The Blast reported that she joined a TikTok yep/nop trend with Sosa, where she revealed she had no dance experience before “Save the Last Dance.”

Also, while she trained for the movie almost three decades ago, she hasn’t had any dance training since.  Stiles even had a stunt double for the more technically challenging scenes in the film.
