The legal battle surrounding Dolly Parton’s legacy has taken another dramatic turn. A Tennessee judge has reportedly granted the late country legend’s company temporary protection from her nephew, Bryan Seaver, after her longtime manager accused him of making threatening statements and interfering with the operation of her businesses.

Seaver, who served as his aunt’s security chief and announced her death last month, has denied threatening anyone. He argued that private conversations were taken out of context during an emotionally charged period.

Dolly Parton’s Company Granted Temporary Restraining Order

According to TMZ, the judge granted a temporary restraining order to Parton’s company, She’s Alive, LLC, against Seaver and his security company, Squadron Augmented Protection Services, also known as SAPS. The order requires Seaver and SAPS to remain at least 1,000 feet away from employees, attorneys, and business partners associated with She’s Alive. They are also prohibited from interfering with the company’s business relationships.

The legal restrictions will remain a central issue when the parties return to court for a hearing scheduled for October 7. A temporary restraining order is intended to provide short-term protection while a court considers the dispute more fully. It does not constitute a final ruling on whether all the allegations made against Seaver are true.

Dolly Parton’s Manager Alleged The Threats Escalated

Danny Nozell, who managed Parton for more than 20 years, sought the order through She’s Alive. According to court documents reviewed by TMZ, Nozell claimed that Seaver demanded money while referencing his background as a military contractor, his access to weapons and his capacity for violence.

Nozell alleged that Seaver’s behavior escalated in the weeks leading up to Parton’s death on August 25 at age 80. The manager reportedly fired Seaver from his security position on September 15 because of the alleged threats.

“Her money better be bigger than I can make elsewhere or I’m going to f-ck everyone. I am about to become the hand of retribution for my entire family,” Seaver allegedly told Nozell in one communication included in the filing.

Another message attributed to Seaver read, “All I do is warfare … everyone needs to be worried about what I might do.”

Nozell also alleged that Seaver threatened to create content targeting Parton’s business relationships. Seaver allegedly said he was planning to set up “a podcast dedicated to ruining Dolly’s brand partnership and telling the violations these people have done on us.”

Those claims remain allegations contained in the company’s court filing. The upcoming hearing could determine whether the temporary protections should be extended or altered.

Bryan Seaver Denied Making Threats

Seaver has pushed back against the way his comments were characterized. “I am a career soldier and military contractor and do conduct arms deals for foreign governments. I am a security professional and I am a killer,” he told TMZ. “However, nothing in this lawsuit were threats and most of the comments I stand by.”

Seaver claimed that the messages had been removed from their original context and presented in a way that made him appear intimidating. “I was talking frankly in a private way with Danny who I thought was my friend and he fancies himself a gangster,” he said. “A lot of these messages are two guys having rage talk and crying on the phone together while we were grieving.”

Seaver also addressed a reported message in which he threatened to “rat f-ck” an unnamed organization. He claimed the statement was directed at people he believed had mistreated Parton professionally. “Those comments were about specific, horrible business partners that have done wrong to her and I stand by that,” Seaver said.

The Nephew And His Security Companies Were Replaced

The restraining order follows Seaver’s removal from the security operation surrounding Parton’s properties. Seaver and his security organizations reportedly received a termination notice informing them that another company would take over protection of Parton’s Nashville home, museum and warehouse. A new security team was subsequently deployed to those locations.

Sources close to Seaver reportedly blamed Nozell and Pinnacle Bank for the decision. His associates said they were “dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions” taken after Parton’s death. “We remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family, and we refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith,” Seaver’s camp told TMZ. They claimed the decisions were made “with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much.”

The termination notice reportedly identified the DP Dean Trust as the entity overseeing Parton’s businesses and properties following her death. Seaver is also said to retain a personal interest in the trust.

The legal dispute marks a striking change in Seaver’s position within Parton’s inner circle. Seaver, whose mother Cassie is Parton’s sister, said he worked for the music icon for approximately four decades and served as her head of security for the last 20 years. Parton also entrusted Seaver with publicly announcing her death following her cancer battle. “Dolly has lived in the light, and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by [late husband] Carl, her parents, and countless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet them in the heavens,” Seaver said in the emotional announcement.

He reflected on joining his aunt on the road when he was young and praised the opportunities she created for her relatives and aspiring entertainers. “I first went on the road with Dolly as a kid, getting a taste of the road life in the early 1980s,” Seaver said. “Dolly opened doors not just for me, but for her entire family to reach the potential we didn’t even know was possible.

“Dolly also opened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians, and dreamers from every walk of life and across every continent. By her example, we believed that anything was possible,” he continued. “She never saw a door she couldn’t open, and the doors she opened made and changed history. My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly, but so have you.”

The October 7 hearing is expected to determine what happens next with the temporary restraining order.
