One Direction alum Niall Horan is keeping his former bandmate, Liam Payne, close to his heart while on tour for his fourth studio album, “Dinner Party.” 

Liam’s death shocked fans around the world in October 2024. The singer died at the age of 31 after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

His former colleagues have continued to honor their late member through emotional tributes and even an alleged song released in his honor.

Niall Horan Played Voice Of Liam Payne During Concert 

Earlier this week, at the opening night of his “Dinner Party Live On Tour,” Horan played the voice of his late former bandmate. 

“We thought something might happen but never anything like this,” the audio started in a fan-recorded video shared on X. Horan had just performed a touching rendition of his tribute song, “End Of An Era,” and a somber mood hung over the room. 

“I always try to remind myself of where I’ve come from and where I’ve managed to get to in my life. It’s amazing, really,” it said in the recording.

Afterward, the 33-year-old looked out at the crowd in a deeply reflective moment, hands on his hips, before the lights dimmed on the stage. 

Niall Horan Seemingly Honored Liam Payne In An Emotional Song 

The touching rendition seems to confirm that the emotional tribute song, “End Of An Era,” was indeed for his former colleague. 

In the song, the Irishman reflected on friendship and memories while exploring the passage of time. He reflected on younger days, leaning into themes of letting go after a loss, singing, “Feels like letting go of / Things we’re not supposed to / One breath and it’s over / The end of an era.”

Following its release in May, fans were quick to point out that the song was a reference to Liam.

The Blast, however, reported that at the time, Horan did not explicitly state the song was directed at the “Strip That Down” singer.

Niall Horan Admitted To Feeling Jealousy At Harry Styles Success

As Horan continues to honor Liam, his relationship with other One Direction members and the complicated emotions also came to light.

In an interview, the Irish artist admitted he felt some jealousy at the success of Harry Styles. However, the feeling was not negative, but rather was a sort of creative motivation which he regarded as fuel for his own career growth.

“Watching mates release stuff is fuel to the fire; there’s nearly a jealousy to it,” he explained, per The Blast.

Horan reflected on his own slow growth, sharing that he was aiming for longevity as some of his favorite singers had 50-year-long careers. The singer believes music is what he was born to do.

Horan isn’t the only One Direction member who has been deeply affected by Payne’s tragic passing.

Earlier this year, the “Sign Of The Times” singer got candid about the emotional struggles he has faced when not in the limelight. 

While performing at a concert, he told concertgoers that the past few years had a mix of emotions, including happiness and heartbreak, especially after losing those close to him. 

His words hinted that Liam’s death had stayed with the 32-year-old long after the headlines had faded. Harry noted that spending time away from the public and with himself gave him space to process these emotions and helped him appreciate how complex life could be, per The Blast.

Liam Payne’s Son, Bear Payne Set To Inherit His Fortune 

In the two years since his passing, Liam has continued to make headlines, including on issues surrounding his estate. It was valued at £26,471,777 ($35 million) before liabilities, with a final net value of £21,898,779 ($28.9 million). 

According to The Blast, the singer passed away without a will. Since he was not married and had no civil partner at the time of his passing, UK intestacy laws state the entire estate will pass to his 8-year-old son, Bear Payne. 

Liam shared his son with singer Cheryl Tweedy.
