The Chainsmokers’ San Jose concert was supposed to be a night of nonstop music and celebration. Instead, the event ended with emergency vehicles surrounding the venue and multiple concertgoers being rushed to local hospitals. 

As fans packed Discovery Meadow for the electronic duo’s performance, first responders launched a large-scale medical response that ultimately saw 14 people transported for treatment, turning an otherwise energetic evening into a frightening scene.

The Chainsmokers Concert Triggered Massive Emergency Response

Hours into The Chainsmokers’ Friday night performance, the San Jose Fire Department was forced to mobilize significant resources after receiving reports of attendees needing urgent medical care.

According to the department, crews responded to “multiple patients requiring medical attention” at approximately 8:22 p.m. The situation escalated quickly enough that officials expanded their response almost immediately.

“SJFD immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources,” the fire department said in a separate update on X.

By the end of the incident, emergency officials confirmed that 14 ambulances had responded to the venue. “A total of 14 ambulances responded, and 14 patients were transported to local hospitals,” they revealed.

Footage from the scene showed emergency vehicles lined up near the concert grounds as crews worked to assist those affected while also managing traffic around the busy event.

The Chainsmokers Show Saw Most Medical Emergencies Occur Near The End

As more details emerged, authorities revealed that many of the medical incidents occurred during the final stretch of The Chainsmokers’ set.

According to the Daily Mail, police revealed that attendees were transported to hospitals over medical concerns that included “suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues.” 

Officials also revealed that 10 of the 14 hospital transports occurred in the final 30 minutes of the concert, showing how rapidly the situation developed.

Despite the emergency response, crews remained on site until late in the evening. The fire department later confirmed that resources returned to service at approximately 10:34 p.m.

Meanwhile, Drew Taggart and Alex Pall’s schedule continued, with The Chainsmokers slated to perform the following day again at the Encore Beach Club at the Wynn in Las Vegas.

The alarming scenes in San Jose were not the first time The Chainsmokers found themselves connected to a concert that ended with emergency responders rushing attendees to the hospital. 

In August, another California performance took a chaotic turn during Splash House’s “After Hours” event at the Palm Springs Air Museum. 

According to TMZ, the trouble began in the early morning hours after a dispute escalated inside the crowd. 

Palm Springs Police were alerted to an assault at approximately 1:37 a.m. when bottles were allegedly thrown into attendees gathered near the stage. 

The aftermath left nine people injured, with seven requiring hospital treatment. Witness accounts circulating online painted an even more alarming picture. 

One attendee claimed, “Somebody threw a big bottle of tequila into the crowd in front of Chainsmokers, and it cut six or seven people very deep.” 

The aftermath eventually led investigators to identify a suspect. According to later reports, a 35-year-old California man, Milad Youssef of El Cajon, was arrested following a joint investigation involving Palm Springs and San Diego authorities.
